Wiwi’s readers have listened to the 10 finalists of Eesti Laul, the Estonian national selection, and they want Grete Paia to win with her song Päästke noored hinged.
There was unusually low voter turnout in our poll, with just 144 people casting votes. Perhaps Estonia is not lighting Europe’s fire this year? It’s certainly not lighting mine. But I think that our readers have chosen a decent song from a mediocre bunch. Grete has a strong voice and an above-average stylist. Sadly her song is just so Pernilla Karlsson boring in its efforts to be dreamy. But at least it’s not a gimmick. Runners-up Winny Puhh are just a bunch of guys shouting and wearing funny costumes.
The show takes place at 20:35 CET this evening in the Nokia Concert Hall. You can watch it live on Eurovision.tv.

My only issue with WP was that they make such an effort to look outrageous that it might come across as no more than a silly gimmick.
Of course it’s better than that, and three minutes is plenty of time for the it to sink in and get people going. So maybe there’s no problem after all, except those common to any minority genre.
Malmo is a smaller venue, too. And isn’t there a mosh pit beside the stage? Something to consider for the camerawork, regardless of audience reactions.
@Ewan Spence,
Sorry but seeing Estonia send Winny Puhh to Malmö would be just as bad as the U.K. sending Rylan Clark to Eurovision!
Winny = NOISE = GIMMICK
@ Ewan Spence
Amen!!
“A bunch of guys shouting wearing silly costumes”, a description that could easily apply to Alcazar. It might not be the three minute slice of pop Eurovision geeks expect, but Winny Puhh have put together an incredibly accessible yet honest slice of hard-punk I’ve heard in a long time.
Winny Puuh are absolute shite. I’m not a schlager fan, and even I think this is just too out there. Needs to go.
“Winny Puhh are just a bunch of guys shouting and wearing funny costumes.”
No, they are one of the most respected hardcore-punk bands in Estonia that give a fantastic live performance. That’s not going to mean anything to the narrow-minded ESC fans though, who believe music is synonymous with “schlager”, is it :(.
