Alyona Lanskaya is one of the few Eurovision contestants to have entered and won her national selection, only to be disqualified and then win again the following year. Saying all that was exhausting, but Alyona appears to have taken it all in stride. She was looking well-rested and rather taut when we caught up with her in Amsterdam recently. Ahead of her performance at Eurovision in Concert, she told me that it’s important to take care of your hair, but even more important to take care of your spirit. She also explained why she relates to the sexy, sultry sound of her Eurovision number “Solayoh”. You can watch our full interview below.
The song was fine and she performed it well but I heard some real horror stories about this terrible woman. She was completely disrespectful to all her assistants and acted like a total diva. Thankfully she’s out of it now and hopefully this time next year the world will have forgotten about her. Another reason she lost was because the country she represents has a terrible record concerning human rights. Sorry but actually her English doesn’t sound that good to an Englishman, so what? neither did Abba and whether we like it or not (and most of us don’t) the song ‘Solayoh’ is a potential winner. From the first notes it careers into your head and sticks there. That is all a hit has to do.
