Wiwi: Someone needs to call the circus because the bearded lady has escaped. Oh wait, that’s just Cezar Ouatu singing falsetto. This polarising number was always going to be difficult to stage and I’m afraid the Romanian team was not up to the task during their first rehearsal. Cezar wears Swarovski crystals and, sadly, they shine far more than he does. The interpretive dancers are somewhat distracting as are the people lifting a red tarp up and down. If they’re trying to fan the flames of my dislike for this song they have done a pretty good job. Cezar is way too good of an opera singer for such a cheap presentation.

Vebooboo: Cezar may be winning our Eurovision’s Next Top Male Model competition, but judging from his outfit and voice, I think he may be in the wrong competition. I actually thought the staging in the Romanian national final was better, albeit simpler. Cezar’s voice is undoubtedly amazing…but is it really meant for this type of song??

I consider fully unfair the comments of WIWI in this article. He is not neutral and the purpose is to reduce the votes for Romania! This article is an unprofessional one and the result will be that the fans will wish to know who is CEZAR representing Romania with “It’s my life”. Let us decide if we like the Cezar’ performance during Eurovision Contest. “It’s my life!” – it’s up to us to appreciate this special song & show. CEZAR = great talent and an original voice. Very charismatic, too and Cezar’s career as contratenor is notable. I surely vote… Read more »

Romanians maybe is time to learn playing by the rules. It seems that, according to his most devoted followers, most of the almost 11k likes on his page (which, he confessed made him feel like Michael Jackson) were generated by sophisticated software. And so is the massive voting in these ESC polls making them irrelevant for all of us. The reality check will come soon, but maybe not soon enough for some of you.

@Lora @Vio @sandra WiwiBloggs is NOT an impartial site! The point of the website is to express PERSONAL opinions! Also, nowhere did Wiwi or Vebooboo attack Cezar personally. They said, “Cezar is way too good of an opera singer for such a cheap presentation,” and “Cezar’s voice is undoubtedly amazing…but is it really meant for this type of song??”

So it will be a very public introduction of Mr. Dracula and Mrs. Draculette. It seems like he certainly learned from his lover that sex sells. Hopefully he would have also learned what is not acceptable, since she was banned at least twice from ROH and MET, and fired from Chicago Opera. The very rich Romania could not have spent any better its public money than on this circus!

WIWI, I thought that this site is impartial and shows Eurovision Song Contest objective. I was wrong. It’s a shame

@Kalomira – you are wasting your time boiling in your own stew, really. Why don´t you relax and leave the Romanians (including Cezar) alone? You seem to do nothing but read this blog every second to see what else happened to Cezar. You are hilarious. Ok, so you don´t like the Romanian entry – you have said that a million times, we understand, now get a life!

Kalomira, just see Dinam’s comment, just above yours. And he is definitely not a Romanian, no Romanian would never go by the name of Dinam

exactly of the majority of europeans i am speaking about, not about only the readers of this blog, such as you, who try very hard all the time to make a point that cezar is bad, you really have a problem with romania,s entry, my guess is you are just envious, you really don,t have other interests than cezar and his song?

for which majority are you talking about?? There are a few europeans that like romanian entry! Here almost everyone is from romania that’s why Cezar has a lot of support!! I don’t think that Cezar can make it into top 10 even though the final!!

You are absolutely right! There were much better entries from romania the past years!!

samantha, you didnt even see the show and you say that this is ridiculously bad, but it,s just your opinion and you are entitled to it and nothing more.the vast majority love the staging

I think it’s really funny how sensitive Cezar fans are. A blog is supposed to be critical and express a viewpoint, which this review does. Most of the other Eurovision blogs just re-print statements from the delegations, have no original opinions and are too busy kissing the ass of contestants to be honest. And this post is very honest: Cezar’s staging is RIDICULOUSLY BAD. (It’s sad, because Romania is usually so good at ESC).

Vio

@Alexander – I was not talking about biased opinions, I was talking about making sheer fun of someone, who, well, happens to be one of the artists performing next week. Biased opinions are ok as long as they do not cross a certain boundary (of decency). I know what a bad review is. Never mind.

@Vio Yeah, that’s the point of a blog…to express biased opinions…if you want unbiased Eurovision news then there are plenty of other sites for you 😉

Wow. Romania have done a really, really good job of separating themselves from the pack (ala Moldova normally). I personally find the song very original, as is the staging, and it fits the ESC like a glove. Fans should be awarding acts like these for being out-there and risky, rather than sticking to the usual formulaic-i’ll-play-safe type of songs.

Wiwi and the team – whatever….. It is obvious that you have your own favourite artists in the competition, and thus would not refrain from denigrating the others.

Gert Waterink

Most importantly, in the 100% televoting era (1998 – 2008) this ‘stuff’ would actually had a chance of qualifying. That’s why I’m happy juries are back. This…..’stuff’, this time around from Romania, does NOT belong in a Eurovision final. Moreover, that’s the reason to have semi finals no? To get rid of the crap…and to enjoy a fairly decent evening of good European music, from all sorts of genres. But not Count Dracula please.

It will be in top 5 in the big final, on May 18!!! Yessssssss Go Cezar! You’re the best and Romania’s show is unique. Can’t wait to see it.

In terms of the presentation, it’s a dead cert for this year’s “Have you lost the plot!?” moment. And it’ll give Moldova’s Zdob ?i Zdub in 2011 a run for their money!
