David has just argued that Malmö staged Eurovision perfectly. That may be true. But our readers seem to think that Düsseldorf staged Eurovision even more perfectly, at least where the slogan and logo are concerned.
Beginning in April we asked you guys to vote in two polls to determine which host city of the past 10 years had the best logo and which host city had the best slogan. The results are in and Düsseldorf has come tops in both categories.
A total of 1,448 of you voted in the poll for best slogan and theme. Funnily enough, Moscow—which did not have an official slogan—still beat three cities.
1. Düsseldorf – “Feel your heart beat.” 287 votes, 19.82%
2. Malmö – “We are one.” 231, 15.95%
3. Belgrade – “Confluence of sound.” 215, 14.85%
4. Oslo – “Share the moment.” 182, 12.57%
5. Baku – “Light your fire!” 172, 11.88%
6. Athens – “Feel the rhythm” 160, 11.05%
7. Moscow – No slogan! 80, 5.52%
8. Helsinki – “True Fantasy” 46, 3.18%
9. Instanbul – “Under the same sky.” 58, 4.01%
10. Kyiv – “Awakening” 17, 1.17%
A total of 943 of you voted in our poll for best logo. (You can see all of the artwork by clicking here). Here are the results.
1. Düsseldorf 184 votes, 19.51%
2. Belgrade 174, 18.45%
2. Malmö 174, 18.45%
4. Baku 125, 13.26%
5. Moscow 110, 11.66%
6. Athens 80, 8.48%
7. Oslo 46, 4.88%
8. Helsinki 23, 2.44%
9. Instanbul 19, 2.01%
10. Kyiv 8, 0.85%
@Z24 LOL. He’s the only Russian act of the last few years I wouldn’t like to see back in Eurovision. Unless he delivers another classic moment like that one!
@Alex: “DO YOU FEEL MY ARMPIT EUROPE!”
I feel like Junior eurovision has better logos and mottos.
2012 Break the Ice-Netherlands
2011 Reach for the Top-Armenia
Way better than Awakening or under the same sky
Baku – “Light your fire!” -THE BEST
My favorite moment from 2011’s Eurovision was Alex Sparrow yelling “DO YOU FEEL MY HEART BEAT EUROPE???” Apart from that, Dusseldorf was easily the worst host in the past 6 or 7 years, at least from the TV viewer’s perspective. The audio mixing was absolutely terrible on pretty much every entry, which explains why the scores were so close. Everyone’s sound was about the same quality and it was hard to tell who was actually performing better. Which is a shame, because 2011 also had the best songs of any Eurovision over the same time period. Not to mention how… Read more »
The only negative thing I can say about the 2011 logo was that it didn’t leave a lot of room for flag customization (Look at the butterflies for each country and you’ll get me). Many country color-swapped logos might’ve as well been the same: (France/Norway/Iceland/Russia/Croatia/Serbia/UK/Netherlands), (Turkey/Switzerland/Poland/Denmark/Austria/Georgia), (Sweden/Ukraine), (Greece/Finland/Israel) (Belarus/Portugal) (Italy/Bulgaria/Hungary) (Romania/Moldova)
Azerbaijan might’ve been the only “unique” one.
so when can we vote on the best stage design? oh and hosts? Go on interval acts too… but in particular… stage design… x

Slightly different subject. The very start of the TV broadcast in Norway I thought was by far the best ever. It had everyone looking up in wonder at glowing spheres floating through the air (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qStSFAy2aJ0). Wonderful way to start it.
the best Azerbaijan Baku 2012 light your fire! from land of fire
Uh, the French city “Bel-Garde” hosted the Eurovision? Or did you mean “Belgrade”?
