We’re suckers for a good remix at wiwibloggs.com. There’s something about a beat that can make a boring song pop and a flat song soar. Case in point: this unofficial re-mix of Bonnie Tyler’s “Believe in Me”. Sped up it has an anthemic feel and makes me believe! Honestly, if Bonnie had brought this to the stage in Malmö we (a) wouldn’t have realized her vocals were better two decades ago and (b) would have believed in her enough to pick up the phone and vote.

Am I alone here? Is this not hot? And what do you think of some of our other favorite Eurovision remixes? Chiara’s re-mix of “What if We?” is so fierece!

If honest the remix is ok for a laugh and a party and the original is ok as it is. But that’s the problem. It’s OK. Where is the dynamic powerhouse that’s Bonnie. Her old material was so full of passion and imagery and power. This song is ok but just plods on. Even the remix retains the plod. Why oh why oh why…

I still prefer the original version. It’s not about being resistant to the changes in the music arrangements, but I think the lyrics really live and understandable when Bonnie put them in the original version. And when I heard the remix, it sounds a bit corny. I’m sorry, but that’s my opinion.

So this means that if Eurovision was only composed of upbeat songs everything would be a lot worthier watching and following: it is cheaper to go to a saturday night gay club … the same music, the same beats non-stop for hours and hours … I mean … why bother going to see ESC live if all should sound the same, filled with beats and beats and beats … Boring hell!

I absolutely hated the original ‘Believe In Me’, the remix is slightly better, since it isn’t a completely dated song anymore. But still, Bonnie’s atrociously raspy voice is still in it, which was a major turn off for me in the original.

Potential, yeah I like it, but a bit cheap and could have been done much much better. I agree uptempo would have upped the votes.

Come on UK so much potential.
