Emmelie de Forest had a busy spring—and not just because she was rehearsing for Eurovision 2013. The 20-year-old has revealed that she was also in the early stages of a romance with her new boyfriend Jakob Glaesner, a father-of-two who is 22 years older than her.
Speaking to Danish newspaper BT, Emmelie de Forest (and de older men’s bedrooms!) said that age is just a number. “We both fall in love with people and don’t think about numbers,” she said. “My father was 17 years older than my mother so for me there is nothing unnatural in the fact that we aren’t the same age. People who have prejudices just don’t know better”.
Amen to that. We love a woman who knows what she wants. And apparently she wants it bad enough to overlook the fact he has two boys, aged seven and 10, from a previous relationship that fell apart two and a half years ago. “It’s gone really well,” she told BT. “The boys are so cute, they’re playing well and just play football. I feel more like a good friend than [a parent]. We go on outings, going to the zoo, etc.”
Emmelie explained that the two met while working on her album ahead of Eurovision. Her friends and family were aware of the budding romance, but she felt it was too pre-mature to reveal anything around the time of Eurovision. Apparently the couple that writes together makes love together. “The first time we wrote together, we clicked,” she said in the interview. “We see the world very similarly and inspire each other, and most importantly, we have music in common.”
Yes they most certainly do. He co-wrote A Friend in London’s Eurovision 2011 song “A New Tomorrow” and was the bass player in the group Johnny Deluxe, which competed at Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 2009. You can get a taste of Johnny below.
What do you think? Are they a super cute couple? Or should Emmelie be looking for men her own age?
P.S. Emmelie has released a new video for “Hunter and Prey”. But we’re sure the revelation of her relationship has nothing to do with promoting it.
