Croatia, Daria Kinzer ELIMINATED

HRT, Croatia’s state broadcaster, has announced that it will not field an entry for Eurovision 2014. According to the Croatian Times, the broadcaster made the decision because of budgetary concerns and its string of bad results in recent years.

The Balkan nation has failed to reach the final for four consecutive years. Here’s how Croatia has fared in the semi-finals since 2010. It isn’t pretty.

2010: Feminnem with “Lako je sve”—13th place. Three women singing beneath a broken heart. Following high expectations, they broke Zagreb’s heart too.

2011: Daria Kinzer with “Celebrate”—15th place. She crashed out of the semi-finals—along with a really dodgy on-stage magician—but still danced her heart out at EuroClub. Way to bounce back! (She is pictured at top).

2012: Nina Badric with “Nebo”—12th place. Woman dances in a whole bunch of toilet paper meant to symbolize the heavens. Lost in translation, really.

2013: Klapa s Mora with “Mizerja”—13th place. These men can sing, but their choice of traditional music makes us feel like we’re dining at a restaurant for tourists. Misery indeed.

The news comes just a few weeks after Bosnia & Herzegovina raised out hopes that they might return to Eurovision in 2014. Hopefully that will help us get our happy back following the sad news about Croatia!

I’m sceptic about Croatia’s comeback. Today,I’ve wachted the RTL extra magazin show and realised that croatian celebrities are more than satisfied because of withdraw. If they ever come back, they would probably hold on to internal choice because the interest for Dora is more than low.

I’m already missing my little Croatia :'(

I consider their 1999 song as the best Croatian entry

Not fair! Croatia had two guilty pleasures for me since 2010! (Croatia 2011 and 2013.) But, I think their best quality entry was in 2010. They should’ve qualified from ALL of those semi-finals.
Best Entry from Croatia since 2010: 2010
Worst Entry from Croatia since 2010: 2011 (but it’s still top-notch!)

Realmente no entiendo lo de los malos resultados,es decir malos por posicion o malos datos de audiencia.Quiero decir si pasa a la final bien pero si no,no ven el festival,si es asi es que no aman esc,en fin que se va a hacer.

I hate to see any country pull out. It takes time and ongoing effort to find a top 10 act.

Thumbs up for Mizerja! Eurovision should return to its nature as a festival of traditional national cultures, not of popular music. By doing so Eurovision is making its style more and more American.

Croatia has pretty much fallen into obscurity in my books after 1998 … so not having them next year is not something I will miss to be very honest. I also don’t expect Bosnia to come back nor do I see Serbia coming for the same reasons. It will be less of a bloc voting moment I won’t have to witness.

I hate when countries pull out. 🙁 I miss Nina so much!

Hopefully B&H come back now, and Portugal. Otherwise we might have even less participants than this year! 🙁
