Duncan James, one-fourth of the British boy band Blue, grew rich as the group released hit after hit between 2000 and 2005. Sadly the champagne has stopped flowing. It has been revealed that James filed for bankruptcy in a London High Court earlier this month using his real name Duncan Inglis.
The news comes on the eve of the band’s UK tour, which is meant to reinvigorate interest at home—and bring in some much-needed revenue. A dolla makes them holla, y’all.
It’s not been a good year for Duncan. Earlier this year a vile Twitter troll made shocking threats against his mother. And in May Blueworld, the band’s company which runs their fan club and web site, went into administration. “Blue have been open about their recent financial struggles and are restructuring their business model,” a spokesman for the band said at the time.
Duncan is not the only member of Blue gripped with financial difficulties. In March Anthonty Costa admitted that he is now living on a £45 per week arrangement to avoid bankruptcy. He takes complete responsibility for the situation. Speaking to the Daily Mail, he admitted that it was the result of a “champagne lifestyle on lemonade money”.

I was at a party with Duncan just over a year ago and he was bragging about this huge house he was looking at purchasing…..even then I was thinking-I’m pretty sure all rise was quite a long time ago and I’m not convinced that you got any writer’s royalties. So if I were you I’d save what little money you did make.- They were fed egos and high life but not taught how to manage it while it was going for the day it would all be over. “Hurt Lovers” last year has gone top 10 in Germany which means it sold a bit. If he’s gone bankrupt he is either out of touch with the band’s earnings or he has completely misjudged his cash flow.

It is a complete mystery to me how these people can earn millions and then blow it all so quickly. I live off of far less and I’ve never been in debt. Hopefully this will be a wake up call to dear Duncan!
