Switzerland: Sinplus Release New Single “Phoenix from the Ashes”

Ivan and Gabriel Broggini, the brothers better known to Eurovision fans as Sinplus, narrowly missed a spot in the Eurovision final in 2012. And then Lys Assia had the nerve to tell us on camera that she would have fared better. Way to kick the boys when they’re down…

In any event, Sinplus have risen from the ashes (created, no doubt, in the Land of Fire). They tell us that repeatedly in their new single “Phoenix from the Ashes”, which appears on their forthcoming album Up to Me. It drops on January 17. If this single is any indicator, then it will include plenty of inspirational lyrics. This song is all about picking yourself up and dusting yourself off, and putting your teeth into the fight.

They may seem like two cool cats—watch our video interview here—but they’ve had some serious drama in their lives, y’all. Here’s what they told us in a separate phone interview after winning the Swiss national:

The message is, ‘Don’t let life events get you down.’ You have to try to fight them and come out stronger. For me and my brother there’s also a personal meaning with the song. We played so much and made so much music, but the chances to share our music weren’t really there because we are in a small, small country where music is not so followed. We feel a little unbreakable.
