One week ago people were convinced that Greece would not take part in the 59th Eurovision Song Contest. However, the landscape continues to shift and now DT/NERIT seems sure of their participation.
DT APPLIES TO BECOME A EBU MEMBER
According to Bloomberg Greece, the interim television network in Greece will apply to become part of the EBU in a few days. Participation was discussed in a meeting that included the CEO of NERIT as well as the special administrator of the now defunct ERT. The people who attented the meeting agreed that DT can take over Eurovision as long as it collects the required sum of money, which will be lower than 350,000 euros for the period it broadcasts, until NERIT replaces it.
WHO WILL REPRESENT GREECE?
Every year, we all wonder aloud who will represent Greece at ESC. This year the talented pop singer Demy is one of the most popular possible representatives. Even Greek Eurovision legend Helena Paparizou supports her. Moreover, Kostas Martakis and the sexy pop singer Eleni Foureira have said they are interested in representing Greece.

I will agree on this “Every country sooner or later realises that Eurovision needs diversity…” but then comes a constant problem: lack of musical quality! But who cares? … even the biggest piece of rubbish always makes fans go crazy and get all the popularity needed to get votes. Eurovision at his best … applause, applause, applause. Greece has sended all these ethno-pop songs because she achieved top 3 places with them. In 2012, Aphrodisiac came 17th and she’s done with that kind of songs. There’s not only Greece who has sended similar songs. Serbia has sent either folk ballads, either folk pop. Russia usually goes with ”pieceful” ballads that have a dream of changing the world (2008, 2013), Turkey sends either folk pop either folk rock (2003, 04, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12). Greece, the eternally “feel sorry for” child of Eurovision … even with no penny in the pockets, everybody wants them to play the clown role at Eurovision just to make sure that the show aspect of what should be a song contest remains intact and therefore no hardcore esc fan will feel traumatized for the rest of their lives if Greece is not there.
