On December 10 the Finnish national broadcaster YLE treated us to snippets of the 12 entries that will battle it out for a ticket to Copenhagen. The first heat of UMK show kicks off this Saturday with an official introduction to the first 6 entries. The national selection will conclude on February 1 with 8 contestants competing in the grand final.
YLE has recently revealed 6 of the 12 songs, which were performed in front of the jury. As it turns out, the songs aren’t as bad as we expected from the snippets.
You can listen to magnificent 6 down below. Let us know what you think of them by writing in the comments section that follows!
- Clarissa feat. Josh Standing – Top Of The World
- Hanna Sky – Hope
- Jasmin Michaela – Kertakäyttösydän
- Lauri Mikkola – Going down
- Madcraft – Shining bright
- MAKEA – Painovoima
It is not yet known when YLE will reveal the rest of the entries, but it will most likely happen a few days ahead of Intro Show 2 on January 8.

I would like to everyone to notice that these are just demoversions. They will be re-mastered and they will be played in radio on 1st of January 🙂
@Giorgos
Why would Finland withdraw?
Apparently, you don’t follow what’s going on there because in the internet auditions in front of the jury were available last Saturday (21 Dec and it will be aired this Saturday).
Next 6 will be available tomorrow (and aired in the TV 3 Jan).
From this 6, I like: Lauri Mikkola, Hanna Sky and Clarissa. But next 6 seems to be more interesting (Mikko Pohjola, Softengine or MIAU!).
No Hope
Finland will not qualify this year.UMK has to start thinking about 2015 participation. It would be better if they would withdraw next year.
off topic
Greece will not participate in Copenhagen by 99.9%
Serious? None of them. I will be Waiting for the next 6 songs.
Hope?
But it would go I don’t know where in Copenhagen (if chosen). The others are just mediocre.
My favourite is “Hope”. I hope that one wins, no pun intended. None of the other ones really stick out to me. I used to like “Top of the World” but the live performance is just not good at all.
Yes, much more promising.
Top of the World: Good structure, interesting vocal combos, some stagecraft to build on.
Hope: Sensitively arranged and attuned to a specific feel. Potentially very affecting.
Painovoima: Gorgeous. So many wonderful things going on.
I do like Hope…but my opinion on Top of The World has gone down
