Sabina Babayeva knows how to bring the drama. Her soulful interpretation of “When the Music Dies” secured Azerbaijan a fourth place finish on home soil back in 2012. She also finished as runner-up in our search for Eurovision’s Next Top Model, thereby showcasing the beauty of women from Baku to Bakixanov.

Now she’s back with a new single and she’s clearly gunning for the title of Miss Patriot. “Ey Azerbaycanim”—Oh Azerbaijan!—celebrates the Motherland. And the video recycles more than a few of the postcards from Eurovision 2012 (yes, you will see the Flame Towers at least 12 times).

Sabina celebrates the Aliyev family.

Sabina even celebrates Eurovision winners Ell & Nikki—and herself.

Well, I like the song, the lyrics don’t contain any propaganda. But the music video is just full of nonsense. It’s too much propaganda. Sabina is an artist, she shouldn’t promote the president. Maybe it’s because recently she’s been too close to the president’s family. I frequently see ’em together.
