Armed with a violin and some major whistling skills, Sebalter has won Die Entscheidungsshow, the Swiss national selection for Eurovision 2014!

His song “Hunter of Stars” is a toe-tapping, honkey tonk slam dunk. Apparently it was inspired by a roadtrip through America. Given the banjo sounds, hand-clapping and country-rodeo vibe, we’re going to guess he visited the American South at some point. Yee haw, y’all!

The Wiwi Jury is particularly pleased that he won. It means we actually made an accurate prediction! Whew.

He’s good looking, the song is catchy and relaxing. His voice is deep and calm. However, his English is terrible but with some improvements I think he can do much better.
He’s my favourite this year.

Not overly enthusiastic about Sebalter, but there wasn’t really much to choose from, was there? Decent song that sticks in your head and he just oozes musicality 😀

I hate to be a party pooper, but I think Heilsarmee/Takasa was better last year.

His encore performance was spot on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWdcaxG7oP8

I suspect that he had in-ear problems during the first performance.

It was my favorite and my prediction too. Even before the Expert Check, when I listened to the song, I knew we could have a potential winner in it. I have had this song in my head since November (if I’m not mistaken) at that’s unlikely to change. I’m totally in love with this song <3

The only ones I know were that Sebalter did Avicii and Aloe Blacc’s “Wake Me Up,” and Natasha and Stephanie did Stromae’s “Papaoutai” – but of course you could’ve figured that out from this thread. I either didn’t recognize or didn’t remember the others.

Regarding Yasmina’s song, when I listened to the clip, I completely forgot any initial opinions I had about it and I can see why a lot of people voted for it.

Alex: As much as her vocals were great, the song was horrible without a shadow of doubt. We already had that pompous and pretentious last year, overrated BTW. The best made 1st place and the worst went 2nd place, like last years’ Greek NF. Seb was out of timing, but the whistling was genius.

Do you know the covers they did after their songs? I had to go out on the middle of all the songs choosings.

Z24, I missed her performance, but judging by the clips which were shown for the voting, it looked like her vocals were phenomenal live.

Here is the live performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23SGN8-N8ys

SEBalter was by far the best.

He covered “Wake Me Up” by Avicii.

Amazing. The best song won and they have a chance to go through. Go Swiss!!

Anyone has the complete results?

Preferred Christian, but this was my second choice!

I guess Christian’s draw order handicapped him.

And even though I hated Natacha and Stephanie’s song, I loved their version of Papaoutai.

I missed the show, but judging by the reprise performance, it was likely well-deserved. I’m glad these guys won. Something light, fresh, lively, creative, and well-sung for the Eurovision stage. Let’s just ask them not to cover “Wake Me Up” again. 😉

I predicted both the Finnish and Swiss winners tonight! Woot 🙂

Finally, a national selection where my favourite won 😛
Sebalter was by far the best and the only one that could make it through the semi-final IMO. I’m happy with his win and excited to see how he does in Copenhagen 😀
