The 2014 Malta Eurovision Song Contest is going to be a who’s who in the world of Eurovision. As we reported previously, Maltese Eurovision veterans Ira Losco and Gianluca Bezzina will host the show (along with local TV presenter Moira Delia). And they’ll be introducing a very international roster of guests.

First semi-final: Friday, February 7

Reigning Eurovision winner Emmelie de Forest will bring her teardrops to the first semi-final. She’ll be joined by Ukraine’s 2014 contestant Maria Yaremchuk. If the Ukrainian national seleciton is any indication, she will be bringing her whips and chains. (Can she get through customs with those?)

Local acts including alternative rock band The Crowns and pop band Red Electrick (pictured aboved) will also perform.

The Final: Saturday, February 8

On Saturday Miss de Forest will be on stage again. But she’ll have dried her tears and will be debuting her new single “Rainmaker”. We knew there would be some kind of water flowing! It’s actually the official theme song for Eurovision 2014, so Malta has pulled a major coup. Good on you. The sunny island is full of Eurovision cheer, so it’s the perfect place to unveil the song.

Recently crowned Swiss Eurovision contestant Sebalter will sing “Hunter of Stars”, and JESC 2013 winner Gaia Cauchi will reprise her winning song “The Start”. The adults should be very nervous. She is going to show everyone up!

Maltese comics Gorg u Pawlu will perform their 2013 single “Hot and Famous”, which was a huge hit locally. Winter Moods, another Maltese band, will debut a power ballad called “Everlasting”.
