“Revelation” mops the floor with everything else. It’s a 9 versus 6 and lower out of 10.

I would love to see “Saule riet” in Copenhagen, for two reasons (other than the fact that this song kicks a**): 1) A song in Latvian has not been performed since 2004. I think we need a bit more of the Baltic languages in the competition, but only Estonia seems to hold up their end of that plan. In a competition that seems to be heavier in English than usual, I am continuously rooting for the non-English songs even if they suck, just so that the shows aren’t 2 hours of songs in English. Only one song in the competition… Read more »

I hope the Latvia doesnt send anyone who sings Latvian? What for? They will get no votes and wont even get to through the qualification.. Be smart.. Dont send Olga, just a failed house song in Latvian.. cmon..
I’d say Katrine Lukins would be the best choise. Or atleast a song in english, a worldwide and understandalble song. That is my reason to vote for her, and i hope you’ll do it aswell.

My reactions to the winning entries in Semifinal 1: Lights On – Wow, the verses were lackluster live. If I recall correctly, I enjoyed all the studio versions of the winning Semi 1 songs, so it’s probably not supposed to sound that dull. Marcus seems to have trouble hitting those low notes. The chorus is really catchy and sung well, but that alone can’t make up for the performance on the verses. Saule riet – This put a HUGE smile on my face. This is obviously inspired by Avicii, but the performance was just excellent. It also seems inspired by… Read more »

I think Latvia should send Katrine Lukins, her song sounds like the best option for Latvia to actually get in the big Finals!

About this “Swedish music factory” … I hope everybody is aware that this whole Swedish disaster began in the music industry in the mid 90 when Denniz Pop and Max Martin after their success with Ace of Base thought they could make use of their repetitive sound to make cheeseburger pop songs for American acts like BSB or Britney right? Martin has had the decency to never participate at the MF or write a song for another country leaving that status for Thomas G:son and Fredrik Kempe .. but all in all with very few exceptions (miraculous exceptions) all these… Read more »

Interesting roster of songs, definitely. Latvia, you did good. But, don’t choose the least good song of them all. I’ll download what I wanna hear. 🙂 Katrina Bindere (more like a Disney classic movie) Markus Riva (sounds OKish, radio friendly) MyRadiantU (the British are coming!…oh, wait. Sounds good) Olga & Ligo (I dunno why I think that this song is OK, maybe because it’s Avicii’s rip off? With Latvian flavor) Ralfs Eilands and Valters Puce (this is GOOOOOOD! Personal fave, ftw!) Samanta Tina (write off her facial expressions and there you go – good) I like 50% of the songs… Read more »

After a dull NF season so far, the Dziesma semis have been a sheer joy – more variety, interest and sheer madcap fun than anything else so far this year by a country mile. I want them to send Cake To Bake, Revelation and Saule Riet, it’s a shame that only one song can win. The studio version of Dejo ta is brilliant too and of course I Need A Soul-Twin was great. Cake To Bake makes me ridiculously happy, Saule Riet has grown on me, and Revelation is superb – the fact it’s an NF song that ends suddenly… Read more »

My reactions to the winning entries in Semifinal 2: WOOOOOOOW – I really like Revelation. That was impressive. The sound reminds me of Incubus, and everything Ralfs attempted was well-executed. He sung quite well too – it’s nice to see that rock style of singing in the contest. I wouldn’t end the song with the spoken outro – it’s kind of anticlimactic. Apart from that aspect, I really enjoyed that entry. Pedeja vestule was very, very well sung, but unfortunately I’m probably missing something because the song is in Latvian. But why is there such an uptempo beat to the… Read more »

LOL, Mad Show Boys pulled off an epic troll here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs4BPqfyNUM and of course, they didn’t make it to the final. If only they performed with vocals that good two years ago. I would’ve loved to have seen a well-sung performance of “Music Thief” at Eurovision.

I had the chance to listen first to Samantha’s song first considering the usual popularity buzz everybody creates around a particular performer: but despite her great voice, the song is just another same old, same old dance tune we could easily listen to in any club … what really baffled me completely was how stubborn some ESC singers are when it comes to use English as the language of choice to perform. Lyricallywise they are never gonna tell us anything of relevant or new … so having said this, I find miserable how awful her pronunciation is ruining any chance… Read more »
