Joanna Lagrave, one of the three finalists in France, has released the English version of her entry “Ma Liberté”. And no, it’s not called “My Liberty” or “My Freedom”. Owing to careful translation and sensitive reworking of the lyrics, it’s known as “Reinvented”. You can watch Joanna singing the song in the studio below, and then you can read the English-language lyrics. What do you think? Do you prefer it en anglais ou en français?

“Reinvited” lyrics / English version of “Ma Liberté”

If you look at my eyes
They are the mirror to my heart
And if you look at this heart
It is the symbol of true love

And if you look at these hands
They’ll touch you in a way you won’t forget
And every time you’re close
Every time you’re far
Any time you are…

Reinvented
Loving me with a new life
Reinvented
Now I’m stronger, I know wrong
Reinvented
And your dream is coming true
Redefine them
I love me and I love you
Reinvented…

So just look at my pride
It has been painted,
Oh, oh…
Oh and this is my soul
Alive inside, I’ll never die

Every time you ask
Every time you want
Any time you need

Reinvented
Loving me with a new life
Reinvented
Now I’m stronger, I know wrong
Reinvented
And your dream is coming true
Redefine them
I love me and I love you
Reinvented…

Reinvented….
Reinvented…

I like both versions. France should send her singing in French and English!

French version is much much better…. I can’t find Joanna’s emotional side and the depth of message delivered by the song . Joanna looks uncomfort singing in English btw
