Sweden’s televoters have given eight artists a second chance at Melodifestivalen 2014. This Saturday Ammotrack, Linus Svenning, J.E.M., State of Drama, Ellinore Holmer, Martin Stenmarck, Helena Paparizou and Outrigger will sing it out for the final two spots in the final. Dreams will be crushed. Grown men will cry.

The process of choosing the two qualifiers isn’t as straightforward as in the semis. In the first round of voting three acts will be eliminated. Voting will resume and those votes will be added to the pre-existing totals. Then another act will be eliminated. Votes will then be re-set and the four remaining songs will compete in two duels, and then a super-final. Got that?

You can listen to each of the eight Andra Chansen contestants below. They are listed in the running order which was determined earlier this week. Then you can vote in our poll. You can vote for as many contestants as you’d like, but you can only vote ONE time. Be sure to click the box next to each contestant you want to support before pressing submit.

The poll closes on Friday at midnight GMT! Let’s let Sweden know who we want to see again on March 8!

My favourite is Helena, I don’t see here anyone better than her. I also hope for Martin Stenmarck; his song has something that makes it being special, I guess an English version would have higher chances.

It’s such a strong andra chansen – there’s not a single bad song or joke in it.

1. Helena Paparizou
2. Martin Stenmarck/Linus Svenning/Ellinore Holmer
5. State of Drama/Outrigger/Ammotrack
8. JEM (good club song but they are poor performers)

My top 8 of the second chance:
1. Survivor
2. Bröder
3. Love Trigger
4. All We Are
5. Echo
6. Nar Änglarna Gar Hem
7. En Himmelsk Sang
8. Raise Your Hands
Survivor is my fave of the whole melodifestivalen. Bröder is my 6th and Love Trigger is my 10th. As long as Helena qualifies, i’m rather less concered for the rest, but if you ask me Bröder also very much deserves the final!

1. Outtrigger. “Echo” is a good fit for ESC that retains a (nu) metal feel. It is broadly accessible even though it is played straight, instead of slipping into shock-value or a joke. 2. J.E.M. Hey, it’s Sweden, so I don’t feel guilty 😉 But actually, it’s well-built in a style that still has standing in the (youth) charts, so it makes sense. I don’t see any reason to try and salvage worthy but typical entries from AC. Once they’re here, they should offer something distinctive. Unfortunately, none of the Swedish language entries did that. 3. State of Drama. Nice… Read more »

My favourites are survivor and love trigger.
But knowing the Swedes they will probably pick broder and either we all are or När änglarna går hem.
But they had some decent songs this year that people outside Sweden liked but some didn’t even qualify for the second round of voting. Shame but Looking at the final they’re very few songs that I think anyone would want to represent Sweden.
Go Helena you are a Survivor. (That sounded way better in my head)

I like quite a few songs here, but they are the kinds of song that do rather badly at Eurovision. Most of the songs here could result in Sweden being booted out at the semi. In their semi-final you’ve got to remember there are plenty of ex-soviets that vote for each other who will go through, leaving very few places for other countries, and Sweden doesn’t have Norway or Denmark to throw them an easy 12 to get them through, this year.

I find it quite funny when people say “Melodifestivalen has crappy songs this year.” Yeah well Melodifestivalen is not really made for international viewers, its just aiming for the Swedish market. Of course you find it hard to understand songs like “Bröder”, “En himmelsk sång” and “Efter solsken” if you’re not Swedish.

I’m really disappointed in Sweden this year. Thought not like they have much chance of winning after having won in 2012, but still. This list is terrible. First song is an actual disgrace, like some tryhard Nickleback. Second song reinds me of Iceland’s Ég Á Líf from last year, except that it’s miles away from its quality and is fucking bad. “Love Trigger” is some awfully generic dance music, which actually is my guilty pleasure, so this would be my choice. The next song is totally shallow, nothing of interest. Then comes the real nightmare, that girl was almost always… Read more »

I don’t care who wins Andra Chansen, as long J.E.M. is one of them.

Ops my fault .. there are 3 songs in Swedish eh eh The one I referred to is no other than Martin Stenmarck’s “När änglarna går hem” which draw a lot in its chorus from Katy Perry’s The One That Got Away … and personally I feel more excited about this than Sanna’s “Undo” trying to be another Wreckling Ball-eque ballad.

Out of all the Andra Chansen of previous years this is for me the worst one. The styles presented here are not my thing and even the more pop-oriented ones are either lame or boring. There is only one song I like … and it’s the only who had the balls to not be sung in English.
