Things turned real ugly when Ruth Lorenzo won the Spanish national final last Saturday, y’all. Brequette fans took to social media to complain that she should’ve won instead, and some even lodged a (rather petty) petition pestering TVE to overturn the result and send Brequette. Sadly for Brequette fans—and there are plenty on this site—coming close isn’t the same as coming close enough. Today Spanish broadcaster TVE revealed the full televoting results. They confirm that Ruth Lorenzo won fair and square—albeit by the narrowest of margins!

The Eurovision fan community all agree that Spain faced a tough dilemma with Mira Quien Va A Eurovision, one of the strongest national finals in Europe this year. Should Spain go for Ruth Lorenzo, as she has the better vocals, or Brequette, who has the better song?

Once the overall votes from both the televoting and the juries were counted and verified, the two-horse race ended in a tie. Both of them received 66 points each.

The rules of TVE’s national final state that in the event of a tie, the song that has received the most votes from the televoters will be the one chosen to represent Spain.

Full Televoting Results — Mira Quien Va A Eurovision

1. Ruth Lorenzo –30.97%

2. Brequette – 27.40%

3. Jorge González – 25.34%

4. Raúl – 9.36%

5. La Dama – 6.93%

So it has officially been confirmed. Will this help end the civil war in Spain? Will Brequette fans throw their support behind Ruth?

So happy for Ruth, defo Top 3 in Copenhagen. I just wish Dama would have done in the voting. She’s such a sweetheart & her song was good too.

I would’ve been happy to see either girl go to Copenhagen.

I’m happy that Jorge came that close to the other two.

Send messages to vote 3 brequette, which are not computed as it gave me error, and yet have taken me 3 messages! I put a request to TVE in the organization of the consumer.

Given the divided popularity between Brequette and Ruth, a “war” like this would have taken place no matter who won. I’m convinced that if Brequette would’ve won, it would’ve been the same story, with Ruth’s fans claiming it was unfair and how she had the best performance, etc. People will eventually accept Ruth won and I’m pretty sure it will do well on ESC. I also hope Brequette to represent Spain in a future year, she deserves it! I’m also surprised of how well Jorge did in the televoting, that was unexpected! But good for him! He also had a… Read more »

Ruth deserved to win. Brequette was quite bad live… and i’m still mad that the fans of her are still telling that they want her. They don’t imagine when she is singing infront of the people in Copenhagen. She could have been more nervous, and her singing would be more bad. That would not have bring Madrid/Barcelona 2015…

Jorge did quite well, would expect that Ruth and Brequette both had 40% and the last 20% was for the bottom three!

@Dhani
Please, can you at least get the name of the singer right. It’s Zara Larsson, you don’t even know how uneducated all your comments make you seem, trust me.

There’s a big double standard how when people were mad with the outcome in Malta, they said the juries had too big a say, but when they’re mad about the outcome in Spain, they say the juries didn’t have enough of a say. You have to pick one or the other. Anyways, seeing Brequette missed out on Copenhagen by that little makes things much worse for me. I would’ve preferred her coming in third or fourth in the televote if Ruth had to up winning. Spain, you made a big mistake giving up that amazing song. But we can hope… Read more »

Brequette DIDN’T have a better song. Her song was boring and dull and a clear copy of sara nilsson “uncover”.

I’m impressed about the short difference between Ruth and Brequette regarding televoting, but I’m quite surprised Jorge did pretty good as well, about 2% difference and he almost takes second place with the public.

@Kelly: Por amor de dios mujer!… Ya no tienes 10 años y hay cosas en la vida que merecen mucho más nuestra pena que canciones en una competición. Vale? Sigue adelante y quita los pies de la lama. Well the only thing petty Brequette fans can ask for is a petition against Spanish televoters or the banning of the televoting system (for such a long time loved by everybody) and wanting judges to make the final decision. Then if in 2015 the juries do not go along with what these petty people want to see in Eurovision, they will make… Read more »

I CAN NEVER ACCEPT THIS RESULT. Brequette should have won. It’s a SONG contest, not a I WAS ON X FACTOR AND HAVE AN OKAY SONG contest.

Go Ruth!!! The thing I don’t get is why La Dama consistently did so bad with both the public and juries. She was much better than the two lads.
