There’s a new Eurovision queen on the scene, and her name is Ruth Lorenzo.

Ruth, who narrowly beat Brequette during the February 22 final of Mira Quién Va A Eurovisión, has debuted in first place in our weekly poll, “Who is your favourite Eurovision contestant so far?” These results cover the week ending March 1.

This week we received a total of 2,634 votes. The “Dancing in the Rain” singer stormed to victory with 31% of those votes. Hungary’s András Kállay-Saunders came second with “Running”. He earned an impressive 23%.

During the first three installments of our poll, Italy’s Emma Marrone was untouchable, winning week after week. But she’s fallen to third place this week, with 12% of all votes.

For the second week running Iceland came last, with Belarus finishing next-to-last.

The results below cover the week ending March 1, so they do not include the new entries from Azerbaijan, Estonia, France, Lithuania, Poland or the UK. We’ll launch our new poll including them on Monday evening, March 3.

Can Ruth, Andras and Emma hold them off? Or will these new acts factor into the poll? Let us know in the comments box below!

You can listen to all of the acts below on our contestants page

Ruth’s song is such a load of nothing. It’s as far from being another “Vuelve Conmigo” as “Algo Pequenito” have been. In terms of songwriting it’s not even “Dime”. A very boring mix of screaming and singing. Will finish around the 20th position.

@Heyy: Hungary overrated? Or do you mean …. I hate the Hungarian song and I hate the fact a lot of people like it? Well it’s life … when a great song is a great song and when people realize it in big numbers, they’ll cast their preference towards it … you have however a choice … ignore it. Tagging it as overrated is just hypocritical. For instance I hate the Polish entry … everyone could easily love it massively and it would be in their own right to express it. But tagging it overrated because I can’t stand the… Read more »

Ruth is the absolute best. Her song is beautiful & catchy & most imortantly it includes the element of defamiliarization. Vocally nobody even comes close to her except maybe Paula Seling. So right now it’s Spain and Romania for me & I don’t think that’ll change unless Helena gets picked for Sweden.

After all the drama-queenish fuzz around Ruth against Braquette, now it became everybody’s favourite of all a sudden? LOL I just have to laugh first and then applaude: considering the questionable and not that impressive qualityless entries chosen in the last couple of days … it’s a sign of relief to actually see that despite all the crap, countries like Spain and Hungary are the two most voted by most people here. I am happily shocked and overjoyed with this outcome. I’d like to see this this way in the weeks to come, but with the annoying and unexplainable over-the-top… Read more »
