When Paula Seling and Ovi won in Romania for a second time with their song “Miracle”, it did not surprise most Eurovision aficionados. They were deemed the clear favorites from the very start, and their performance stole the show on Saturday night, despite the best efforts of the competition.

But some of y’all were not impressed. Naysayers claim that they heard better from the Romanian duo in Norway and that the song might tank in Denmark.

Nevertheless, since Romania is long overdue to win the contest, both Paula and Ovi, as well as head of delegation Liana Stanciu, have vowed to do their very best to bring the trophy to Bucharest this year.

Could we indeed witness a miracle in Copenhagen or is it a case of wishful thinking? Watch an encore of their performance, read the “Miracle” lyrics below and then sound off in the comments section!

Miracle lyrics — Paula Seling & Ovi

I.
Ovi: I don’t know if it’s right
But I got a feeling
And I want to believe
This is magical
Is this what it’s like?
Cause I’m starting to feel it
And I want to believe,
It’s incredible

Paula: If you only knew
All the things I could tell you
We could be dancing with stars
In the night

Ovi: It’s so magical
Paula: So magical
Ovi: So beautiful
Paula: So beautiful

Chorus:
Paula&Ovi: It’s a miracle
It’s a miracle
I can see it now
Paula: All the things I see
Ovi: I think I see them too
Paula: All for you and me
Ovi: Just like a dream come true
Paula: It’s so beautiful
Ovi: No one will ever know
Paula&Ovi: It’s a miracle

II.
Paula: Now you know that I’m right
And you got that feeling
I told you before
That is magical

Ovi: Yes it’s magical

Paula: Now you know
What it’s like
And you’re starting to feel it
But you just can’t deny
It’s incredible

Paula&Ovi: If only I knew
All the things you could tell me
We could be dancing with stars
In the night

Chorus:
Paula&Ovi: It’s a miracle
It’s a miracle
I can see it now
Paula: All the things I see
Ovi: I think I see them too
Paula: All for you and me
Ovi: Just like a dream come true
Paula: It’s so beautiful
Ovi: No one will ever know
Paula&Ovi: It’s a miracle

i really like this song, although it is not as good as playing with fire. i still think this song will make it to the finals and get a solid placing if not first. its bound to be one of the favourites especially with the huge note that Paula Seling pulls off amazingly.

Good luck Romania! Possible Winner this year, that’s for sure!

“No matter how hard is for you to understand where…” No need to make assumptions on how hard it is for me to understand something – also, regarding understanding, you said it was beyond your understanding why Paula and Ovi were so popular, and I explained why. I’m not saying to AGREE with me, dude – just that it shouldn’t be so hard to see that they have something to their vocal abilities and they naturally get popular as a result. Like you said, Paula in particular has a ridiculous voice. The only reason I brought up the matter on… Read more »

Here’s a fun excersize:
Imagine you are a (English language) commentator about to introduce the song, and pretending that it’s not already in English — Tell your listeners what the song is about.

@Alex: I don’t judge a songwriter with one unique adjective because of some songs that person wrote … I am not a fan of Thomas G:son as he has done a lot of crap over the years (e.g. Carola) as much as Fredrik Kempe (Perelli and Saade). But apart from all the wrong both insist doing (yes they still do a lot of crap and all of Kempe’s crap is in MF this year) if a certain song they do as a final product when I listen to it pleases me, I am not going to address them as cheesy… Read more »

WE KNOW THAT EOMANIA ALWAYS HAVE A GOOD AN ORGINAL PERFORMANCE IN STAGE, THE SONG IS GREAT AND I BELIEVE TOOO THAT THIS YEAR DON HAVE THE QUALITY OF OTHER LIKE IN 2012 OR 2009 THAT I LOVE.

@Charles, didn’t know cheesy G:son tracks were your thing. I liked Waterfall as a song (regardless of the lyrics being cheesy), but boy Sophie was lousy in the semifinal. Eyes closed or not, I was wondering how they qualified. Eyes open, they looked really awkward with each other on stage. At least they recovered vocally for the final. It shouldn’t be beyond your understanding that I or anyone else enjoy Paula and Ovi – what’s not to like about their vocal qualities? Regarding songs, you too acknowledged that Playing with Fire was “fun to listen to” in another comments thread,… Read more »

I loved ‘Playing with fire’. I don’t think this one is at same level, but it’s a weak year. Not even Italy impresses me and I loved every song they sent in the last 3 years. So, for now this one and Hungary’s and Finland’s are my faves.

I really loved it at first, but the buzz wore off fast. It’s a mish mash of EDM stuff we’ve been hearing for a few years now. Still like the song, but yeah it relies on a long held note to make the song.

I LOVE Miracle. I love the song, i love their voices, i love everything. Paula has an incredible voice, and also she is a wonderful person. She is very kind, open-minded, honest person. She has a very beautiful soul, believe me guys, i know what i am talking about. And i really hope that Paula and Ovi will win Eurovision this year. They deserve it so much! Love From Russia. <3

@Vladimir: You should have referred Britney Spears instead … not Ellen .. Britney as a true Louisiana dumb-blond American girl says “y’all” all the damn time …

@Alex: I just need to close my eyes and ignore what happens on stage or not to enjoy Waterfalls … whereas Playing With Fire and Miracle do nothing for me … but hey if you all love this duo for whatever reason beyond my understanding, fine …

@Charles: In regards to chemistry, at least they aren’t Sophie and Nodi from Georgia!

Besides not liking this song at all, I still think that after 4 years this duo is purely artificial, no honest and believable chemistry … he has no expression in his face and I don’t think this genre of music best suits her amazing voice. The only thing working on their behalf is their 2010 popularity …that is the only reason everybody still loves them: everybody is feeling like this is still 2010 and these 2 are still singing Playing With Fire … Not this time, we’re in 2014 … and this is no miracle but a crappy music moment… Read more »

I love the song but they should do more on stage like dance around a bit or have back up dancers

Out of the choices in Romania this year, they weren’t too bad, but if “Miracle” was put into a much larger selection show like Melodifestivalen, Melodi Grand Prix, or A Dal, it wouldn’t of done well at all. My guess is that it’ll qualify and place somewhere from 20-12.

I don’t why, but I really dislike both of them + the song. The Romanian public voted other song but these two were judged first and took the throne because of them. I can’t to notice that this whole “contest” was just a charade in order to give them a second ticket after the one in Oslo 4 years ago.

That being said, Romania will grab so many points and my opinion wont matter. 🙂

Those 18 seconds high note it is annoying. ‘Miracle’ is around the button five in my personal top this year.

All this talking is in vain, because on the night more than half of the voters will be simple viewers who will hear the songs for the first time, not eurovision fans. That’s the thing about this contest…It’s unpredictable. Every one thought that Hungary won’t make it to the final last year and look how that turned out, or Malta and I can go with this all night long. What’s certain is that the Romania’s entry is just fine and brings color to this year’s contest. I personally like it and i have high expectations about it’s placing. We’ll see!

The song is nice. Playign with Fire was amazing and one of the best of the 2000’s.

I hold them in high regards and wish them the best of luck. The song is just good, not perfect.

In my honest opinion, Anca Florescu should’ve won the ‘Selec?ia Na?ional?’. Her song way better than this one, although her vocals were not as strong. In the end, it is about the song and the feeling that comes across, not some 18 seconds high note. Don’t get me wrong, the way Paula sings is somewhat of a ‘Miracle’, but this songs doesn’t even begin to compare with their 2010 entry. What bugs me the most about it is that the lyrics are more than cheesy. The overuse of words such as ‘Miracle’ ‘So beautiful’ ‘Incredible’ ‘So magical’ leave me dull… Read more »

Definitely not as good as Playing with Fire

I think their showmanship is very strong but the song is actually a bit frustrating. I builds to a big chorus (like Playing with Fire) but instead you just get “It’s a Miracle” repeated a bunch of time being carried by the same old dance instrumentals. A better chorus could have made this act very strong.

I guess I’ll have to hear it more and see it it grows on me, but so far I’m not that impressed. Is a good song, yes, but not sure if good enough to win ESC. Playing with Fire was a lot more interesting.

I haven’t heard the other songs in Romania but comparing Miracle to the other songs in esc so far it had a big chance to win. And it’s my favorite so far!

In the middle of the pack so far for me. The song is not great and they look dull without their pianos.
