It will certainly be a busy week for MAD TV and DT: they have to organise a show that will meet the high expectations of the demanding Greek Eurofans. Rehearsals are rumoured to begin on Sunday, while the competing artists will meet Mr. Fokas Evaggelinos, the director of “Eurosong 2014 – a MAD show”, this evening. Freaky Fortune remain the favourite to represent Greece at Copenhagen, and they have started a promotional “tour” appearing at public events and on TV panels. I’m on-the-ground in Greece, so let me show you what’s going down…

AGATHON IAKOVIDES STRIKES AGAIN!

Koza Mostra & Agathonas Iakovidis Alcohol Is Free

Being a guest on a gossip TV show, Agathon Iakovides, the guy who sang along with Koza Mostra last year, said: I don’t care about the other songs. Of course I will support and vote for my friend Elias Kozas’ song (“Kanenas De Me Stamata” – Kostas Martakis)” He said all this without having listened to the songs first, and when asked to be more objective, he argued: “There isn’t any objective opinion, they are all subjective, and mine is that I’ll support Kostas Martakis’ song no matter if this statement harms his participation“. We are used to Agathon’s offensive statements, but this time he overdid it. It will be interesting to see his and Elias Kozas’ faces when the song doesn’t win. Many admit that the music is similar to last year’s song, and it’s not nearly as exciting and uplifting as “Alcohol Is Free”.

KALOMIRA RETURNS TO GREECE AFTER NEARLY THREE-YEAR HIATUS

kalomoira

Living permanently in the USA, Kalomira decided to return to her homeland in order to sing in the national final. She was undeniably excited, moved and happy to return. Countless paparazzis and journalists were waiting for her at the airport. She is a mum of two little boys, Dimitris and Nikos, but she didn’t bring them. They’ve never been apart. “Family comes first, but I always loved and will love singing. I have started conversations with disk companies now, and will soon prepare something.” she stated.

HOW MANY GREEKS ACTUALLY WATCHED THE 4 SONGS’ PRESENTATION?

Much to the dismay of DT, which was hoping to raise its viewing figures by transmitting the four competing songs on Wednesday morning, the figures themselves depict the reality. Just 1.1% of Greeks watched “Epikairotita”, the show through which the video-clips were first revealed. Surely the most waited for MAD TV to upload them, not bothering to watch a 2-hour TV journal full of politics and low quality content.

FEAKY FORTUNE: OUR BAND WAS CREATED THORUGH FACEBOOK

On another TV show, Freaky Fortune and Riskykidd were invited to talk about their entry. It is interesting to say that Freaky Fortune were created through Facebook, as the one singer contacted the other to prepare something. They began in 2011, and both are younger than 24 years old. Riskykidd is just 19 years old! Watch part of their interview below:

“Rise Up” is the winning song in each of the major fan polls that have been created, including ours.

ELIAS KOZAS GOT PUNKED

There’s a popular TV show where the host and hostess are asked to phone a famous celebrity and pretend they are someone who is interested in aranging something with the celebrity. Today, it was Elias Kozas, the creator and singer of Koza Mostra and writer of “Kanenas De Me Stamata”. So, the host pretended he was a famous stylist and wanted to give Kostas Martakis’ free clothes. These included white leggins featuring a jockstrap! Watch the video and listen to Elias’ reaction!

And keep voting in our poll, which you can access here.

Freaky Fortune for the win! 🙂 Although, I’ve found some interesting thing under their YouTube video. In the comment section, one guy gave them full support, but the trouble with it was that he was from Macedonia, or the FYROM, as the Greeks say. Politics aside, but even mentioning the word “Macedonia” causes hilarious comments from the Greeks. The Macedonian says: “If this goes in Copenhagen, it will get my vote! LOVE FROM MACEDONIA! (or FYROM, as you call it, but lets not spoil the fun, shall we?) This surely be a huge hit all over Europe, as well! I… Read more »
