Norway’s revamped Melodi Grand Prix kicked off tonight, starting with the first of three semi-finals, live from the Folketeatret in Oslo. Jenny Skavlan and Erik Solbakken, one of the presenters from the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, are this year’s hosts of Melodi Grand Prix.
Five acts performed, but only three could advance to next week’s final. The decision was decided 100% by televoters.

After each act performed their entry, a panel of four expert juries provided commentary about the song and performance. The panel consists of Marie Komissar, Kathrine Synnes Finnskog, Gisle Stokland and Tarjei Strøm. They all helped director Vivi Stenburg choose the 15 entries for this year’s Melodi Grand Prix, so they have a running start when it comes to judging them.
Once all of the votes were counted and verified, tonight’s three lucky qualifiers were announced. They are:
