Ace Wilder is the top Melodifestivalen artist on Spotify and iTunes, and Sanna Nielsen topped the bookies’ table in the weeks leading up to tonight’s final. But, if our readers have their way, then Helena Paparizou will strut past both of them while singing her song “Survivor”.

Over the past week our readers cast a total of 2,703 votes for their favourite in our Melodifestivalen poll. Helena, the winner of Eurovision 2005, earned 835 of them, or nearly 31%. Anton Ewald came second with 24%. Sanna Nielsen, who wants to tell a simple story of strength, and Ace Wilder, who encourages y’all to work to live and not to live to work, were the only other acts to earn more than 10%.

What do you think of these results? Is Helena in with a chance, despite what the bookies say?

Melodifestivalen Poll Results

1. Helena Paparizou: 835 votes, 30.89%
2. Anton Ewald: 645 votes, 23.86%
3. Sanna Nielsen: 373 votes, 13.8%
4. Ace Wilder: 299 votes, 11.06%
5. Alcazar: 185 votes, 6.84%

Be warned: The bookies have Sanna and Ace virtually neck-and-neck at just about even, with Helena at around 10/1. Alcazar and YOHIO follow.

Thank God that there are no juries from Greece or Cyprus this year because you know who would get their “douze points”!

PS: Ace Wilder FTW!!!

A change to my previous list. #3 and #4 have switched. 10. Anton Ewald 9. Alcazar 8. YOHIO 7. Panetoz 6. Helena Paparizou 5. Oscar Zia 4. Ellen Benediktson 3. Ace Wilder 2. Sanna Nielsen 1. Linus Svenning I think people are underestimating the sentimental factor in this contest; and if it plays a role here, it could turn heavily in Linus’ favor, and make the people believe that, after 16 years, now is the right time for Sweden to send a Swedish-language song to ESC. If the fun factor plays a role, Ace Wilder is the best of the… Read more »

Ellen Benediktson: 66 Jury 38 + Televote 28 9. Oscar Zia: 41 Jury 17 + Televote 24 10. Panetoz: 33 Jury 14 + Televote 19 So essentially:… Read more »

Ok so, the thing that surprises me the most is that Anton managed to get second place in this vote. After looking at comments I thought it was pretty clear almost everyone on Wiwibloggs hated his song. Also, as I said before people are just in love with Helena cuz her song isn’t great to be honest and I really doubt she’ll win. Either Ace or Sanna would be my guess, with Ace definitely doing well with the televoting and Sanna definitely doing well with the juries. If one manages to overtake the other in jury/televote they’ve got this. Please… Read more »

Just my opinion. Ace Wilder overrated. Linus Svenning underrated.

With Ace or Oscar, Sweden can be in TOP 5 and TOP 10 at Eurovision
With Helena, Sanna ,Ellen and Anton in TOP 10 place 6 to 10
With Alcazar, Panetoz in TOP 15 place from 10 to 15
With Yohio in TOP 20 place from 15 to 20
With Linus place from 21 to 26 in final if Sweden go with Linus to final

Helena …. former winner of ESC in 2005 …. still loved and very remembered in the ESC fan community because of that 2005 song … okey … I wonder: is it really so hard to truly love any other song whose performer hasn’t got the same level of Eurovision popularity? Or is this all about the performer and his/her popularity? Because if you expect her to win only because of who she is … you’ll be so disappointed.
