DR, Denmark’s state broadcaster, does not believe in instant gratification. Although we’ve known the acts competing in tonight’s Dansk Melodi Grand Prix final for months, DR only revealed the full versions of the songs yesterday. Luckily our readers are real aggressive and they still managed to cast a total of 444 votes in the past 12 hours. The results suggest that tonight’s showdown in Odense is gonna be tight.

Top 3 Finishers

1. Michael Rune feat. Natascha Bessez — “Wanna Be Loved”

Michael Rune came out on top with 17% of all votes. His song, which features vocals by Natascha Bessez, will likely benefit from Miss Bessez’s non-vocal assets. Just do a Google Image search and you’ll see what we mean. “Touch me where my heart is,” she says. “We can get this started, Baby pay me Fifty Shades of Grey.” We have no doubt lots of men will want to touch her where her heart is.

2. Bryan Rice — “I Choose U”

Bryan is everyone’s sentimental favourite, as he finished second in 2010. We’re not fans of songs that replace the word “You” with the letter “U”, but apparently our readers don’t mind. It’s a happy, upbeat song about the madness of falling in love. “You hit me like ‘Whoah,'” he says. “Never fallen so fast, I’m out of control ’cause I got it so bad.”

3. Rebekka Thornbech – “Your Lies”

Continuing the trend of folk and country at ESC 2014, Rebekka’s song is one of our personal favourites. It sounds like mainstream country music, and this woman can sing. Playful yet refined, Rebekka asks a lot of questions with this one: “What if I let you buy my drink? What if you want me dressed in pink?”

DMGP Poll results

1. Michael Rune – Wanna Be Love: 77 votes, 17.34%

4. Emilie Moldow – Vi Finder Hjem: 49 votes, 11.04%

“Wanna Be Loved” for the win. It’d be interesting to see another American competing after Andras and possibly Ace. Hannah Mancini must’ve set a trend 😛

@Marcus:

Actually Denmark finished 2nd when they last hosted (in 2001) and 9th out of 14 in their first attempt as hosts, so that’s pretty OK. Do your research.

As for the above mentioned songs & favorites:

They are ready to host it again, me seems. Maybe next year in the new Copenhagen arena OR finally, in the middle of nowhere in Denmark. 🙂 My favorites: “Your lies”, “Feeling for you”, “Right by your side”, “Wanna be love”…but I really do like the others too.

I will probably be voting for Nadia Malm but I don’t really like any of the songs so it’s hard to decide.

I want glamboy P to win as his song is really catchy and the rest are just dull ballad type things especially Bryan rice. He may be a pretty face but his songs bug the hell out of me. Please Denmark if you send Mr rice you won’t do well and Denmark doesn’t have a good record of doing well when they host it (I know they’ve only done it twice before)
