Following its only absence due to internal selection last year, the national selection show EMA returned to Slovenia tonight. This year’s show was hosted by Ula Furlan. The seven acts all performed their entries under the confirmed running order. Once it was done, the first round of voting began and once again, the winner was selected by 100% televoting.

Tonight’s special guest was EMA 2011 winner Maja Keuc, who premiered her new single “Close To You”.

The two entries with the highest number of votes progressed to the EMA super final. After all the votes were counted and verified, Tinkara Kovach and Muff advanced to the super final. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to the other five acts.

EMA Super Final

The two remaining acts performed again and Slovenes voted again. Tinkara came out on top! It seems that our readers have correctly predicted the top two on our EMA 2014 poll resultsWhew.

Tinkara Kovach – 7932 votes
Muff – 3450 votes

Are you happy that Tinkara Kovach won? Do you agree with Slovenia’s decision? You can watch the entire show again on Eurovision.tv.

This should have finished much higher. Top-10 for sure. The chorus of this song was really lovely, spins through your head like a catchy pop tune, but one with a lot of class. This song deserved much better than the position they ended up with. I’m not saying it should have been a potential winner or so, but somewhere around 8th or 9th spot would have been well deserved.

I’ve just watched the show (yep I watch the shows after all the fuzz has fisnished I try no to read anything about the winners jajajaja… although it is almost impossible jaja) and I loved this show, they had good songs and I loved Muff too, let’s make a deal let’s change that horrible song about the cake (hate you Latvia ¬¬, love you Belarus but face it nobody likes your song except me) and put Muff instead….jajajjajaja

The introductory bars have a promising folk feel with a nice flute motif, but then it gets rather pedestrian and never recovers. It comes to life better played at 1.2x speed.
It might improve by May.

I agree with D. This is the year Eurovision turned upside down. I actually really like this song. Good job, Slovenia! I’m glad different countries from normal are getting to shine this year.

Is it Slovenia’s “Sanomi”? Don’t think so.

Best song won on the night. No winner, but should safely qualify for the final. 15-20th place?

Love this song, it’s in my Top 5. Really bizarre how now all the countries that typically send better songs are sending worse songs this year and all the countries that typically send bad songs are sending good songs. Hope this qualifies and thankfully it’s in the semi with less Soviets.

Now that Sweden didn’t send Ace Wilder, Eurovison this year is ruined for me… This is as if they didn’t send euphoria back in 2012.. I cant deal. RIP
