Last Wednesday, Ducth artists Ilse DeLange and Waylon (a.k.a. The Common Linnets) revealed their song for Eurovision 2014 – “Calm After the Storm”. After almost a week the group have now released the official music video.
The song made lots of Eurovision fans real emotional. However, many Dutch people (myself included) were unimpressed, thinking it was all a bit lame and that Waylon was merely acting as a backing vocalist for Ilse. Despite this, the song has reached number one on the Dutch charts and the Estonians also seem to love it!
In the accompanying video you will see Ilse and Waylon attempt to play cowboy and cowgirl in the wild west of Texas. But as a Dutchy I think it just looks like (and probably is) the green area around my village.
One positive is that because of the rather boring video, you will find yourself listening more carefully to the song. Also, the instrumental section sounds way better than the acoustic mess from last week!
What do you think of the video? Do you like the song better now? Is it good enough for the finals in Copenhagen?
