David Lindgren won us over in 2012 and 2013 when he made it straight to the Melodifestivalen final.

Now David and his boyish face will be gracing cinemas around Sweden in the upcoming comedy “Hallåhallå”. Lindgren plays the role of Micke, a nurse and colleague of the newly divorced mother of two Disa (played by Maria Sid). Micke spends a lot of time trying to cheer up the divorcee. Something tells me a few of his cheesy winks and smiles will put a big smile on her face! He gives us a flash of that smile at 1:18 in the trailer.

Lindgren told Aftonbladet that, despite his success at Melodifestivalen, it was time to shift priorities. “I said early on that it was time for my wife Kristina again, she has taken a step to the side in her career the past few years. We actually studied together, and now this spring she will be in ‘Cabaret’ alongside Sarah Dawn-Finer at Uppsala Stadsteater and in the autumn in ‘Doctor Zhivago’ with Christopher Wollter and Sanna Nielsen at Malmöoperan.”

Maria Blom, director and scriptwriter of the new film, says that David was a bit of an unexpected choice. “I wanted to have someone with a warm spirit, who has presence, even though the role is small. One day David sat on the sofa in TV 4’s Nyhetsmorgon.  I thought…He sparkles as a person…” Yes, he most certainly does.

Whether David will treat this cameo role as a stepping stone to something bigger remains to be seen.  Do you think he has a chance to make it in Hollywood? What about in Malmö?
