Molly Smitten-Downes has been one of the bookies’ favourites for weeks. After Eurovision in Concert she is one of ours, too.

Miss Molly is incredibly down-to-earth and candid. During our interview she discussed her reservations about accepting the BBC’s invitation to sing at Eurovision, and how their hands-off approached encouraged her to take on the challenge. “They didn’t give me any direction artistically,” she says. “They just it needed to be three minutes long.”

She also discusses her edgy looks, her attempts at going vegetarian and her encounters with Eurovision fans. But the biggest takeaway is about her song “Children of the Universe.”

“The message is don’t forget your worth,” she says. “Don’t forget how powerful you are. I think every human being on this planet is so powerful that we have no idea actually. We forget just how powerful we are. It’s about being in the a dark place and forgetting that and feeling that you don’t have much of an impact and then realising you are integral to everything.”

One of the best songs this year and the best British entry in the last 10 years. Good luck, United Kingdom!

For the first time in years BBC seems keen on winning once again.
I hope Molly can do the trick and bring the 60th anniversairy show to the United Kingdom. It would be a boost for non-cliché singer-songwriters to participate as well for their country!

Otherwise I’ll see Belgium’s Susan Boyle running away with the 2014 victory 🙁

I love the way she’s so diplomatic about the UK’s last few entries. She’s basically saying they were crap but in the nicest way possible. 🙂

I like UK’s song this year and I support it . But did not expect her to have this annoying voice … meh

Both she and Dilara sound awful in their interviews .

Awesome! She’s much cooler than I realized. And thank you for not asking the same boring questions as everyone else. “Do you like Amsterdam?” Who Cares?

It seems just yesterday since our last “power” song and I can’t help but draw similarities!
