We’re all excited for the London Eurovision Party tomorrow in London. But that wasn’t the only Eurovision event in town this weekend. Last night Austria’s Conchita Wurst was the headline act at Eurofest, a celebration of europop and Eurovision in London’s Royal Vauxhall Tavern. The team from wiwibloggs.com was on hand to shoot shaky videos on our iPhones. (I’m sorry, but after three G&Ts, we were not going to fool around with a tripod or expensive equipment).

Conchita treated the audience to three songs. First she sang “That’s What I Am”, her entry for Austria’s 2012 selection which only narrowly lost to the Trackshittaz. Conchita appeared on stage in hotpants crafted from leather straps, and wore a glittery red cape with MASSIVE SHOULDER PADS. That’s power dressing, y’all!

Then she sang her Eurovision 2014 number “Rise Like a Phoenix”. Conchita’s dark, smoky vocals work very well with this sultry ballad, which wouldn’t be out of place in a 1920s jazz bar. She’s really owning it!

And finally Conchita reprised the song that started her on this journey way back in 2011. That’s right people: She dropped a little Celine Dion action with “My Heart Will Go On”!

Conchita may be a singing diva, but she’s still not a diva diva. She always has time for her fans and signed this postcard for all of her supporters on wiwibloggs.com. She loves y’all so much!

I have heard some people appreciating a great deal Aram’s performance at Eurovision in concert. LOL. Oh yea and ROFL. First part? I could barely hear his voice. After he was booed when coming on stage by several people, he meowed half of the song then trying to morph to the rock-grunge type of voice is looked and even sounded a bit like a witch on the toiled trying to squeeze out a broom. So no thanks. And mp3? why not mp4 or mpeg. Pig being butchered lol yea she was shouting like wanting to kill the pig actually. No… Read more »

@Marcelo N. I still agree with you. Let’s hope this year they’ll vote “fairly.” About Armenians making big deal and over exaggerating things… I honestly don’t like it but if you look at their history you’ll understand why they do that. I don’t want to give you a lecture but….please understand that they’re a tiny nation, and no nation in Europe gives a damn about them because Armenia doesn’t have an abundance of natural resources. Unfortunately popularity comes from wealth. Therefore, Armenians are using their voice. Armenians have been through hell for the last 26 years. The 1988 major earthquake,… Read more »

Thank you, Reality for your reply. I see we both follow the whole ESC intensely and still retain some sort of impartial jodgment 😉 And sorry for the nasty bits, noblesse oblige. Just a thought back to the “political” side of it. You state it is all politicised, and many will agree. I would set two, rather three scenarios: the “neighbours”, the “ideologically similar” and the Diasporic one. 1 and 2, as well as 2 and 3, overlap to a certain point. Even in terms of migration, any of the three will contain similarities. I find it completely natural that… Read more »

@Willi Lee Adams,
You work for wiwibkoggs? Lol
No, actually now you do pay attention on others, but you wouldn’t do that If Aram MP3 stayed in one place. But since he’s on tour you can’t go everywhere he is. You moved on when people started bashing wiwibloggs for the hyper focusing on Aram and Conchita. Moving on…

@Marcelo N. I’m still NOT judging you directly. I meant the overal picture seems this way…but I agree with you 100% about the singers. I hate judging people…Gosh! However, can’t help but laugh. Your words…Biting you on the rear end… “Oh, and apparently can’t read straight either.” You said that? I did not mention the Macedonian singer at all. But it’s ok. It was Montenegro’s. I think he’s one of the original ones, but unfortunately no one is going to care. (And my spelling mistakes… Come on! We all know what auto spell check does sometimes.) I’m actually just like… Read more »

@ Reality Hello again. Well, I guess I am not “memorized” (I assume you meant “mesmerised”) by Conchita. I can tell you I have seen better beards, haha… Now seriously: do you really think I have not watched/listened to ALL OTHER contestants, over and over? Really? I’ll tell you what. Just to see whether you are serious or whether you have a hearing problem, I’ll give you a few tips: – The Macedonian singer made a weak live performance on Eurovision in Concert, apart from having an utterly unoriginal song of the kind you get three for a pound on… Read more »

@Marcelo N, I never judged you. It just seems and feels like everyone, and especially the gays are memorized by Conchita’s “special” looks and ability to sing. Believe me, those judges have seen thousand times better performers and yet they never gave a damn. In this case they will do the same. I like the song a lot, but I do not find his singing skills or voice extraordinary or great. Have you heard others? Like The contestants from Spain, Montenegro, Armenia, Albania, Hungary, Norway. THEY ARE GREAT! However, I only find Denmark’s, UK’s, and Hungry’s songs marketable and as… Read more »

@ Reality – Just so that you will not remain confused about me: I think the progress he is making on live performances is excellent. I also remember writing ON THE SAME POST “I couldn’t care less about the looks anymore”. Does that tell you anything about your impression that I appreciate him because of his Conchita appearence? Oh, yes, it says you are wrong and judged me rashly 😉 I really do not go by many of the usual gay standards, nor I care whether I should. Still, I do appreciate what the whole Conchita character stands for, as… Read more »

Forgot to mention. Seems like, and he actually mentioned it that he’s a Kim Kardashian look alike. If he wanted to look special, why not pick a better role model. This whole attention on Conchita alone is getting on my nerves. Leave the guy alone wiwibloggs! It’s frikn annoyingggg.
There are 35 other contestants besides Conchita and Aram.

Oh goodness. I don’t find anything special in him other than his looks. Dear gay friends, don’t exaggerate just because he’s gay and has special looks.. Honestly, there are thousands of singers who sing Celine Dion ‘s songs a million times better than him. Come on!

EXCELLENT!! This won’t go unnoticed by the juries… I bet my shirt on that.
This guy gets better and better; nice to see he’s taking it this seriously. I couldn’t care less about the looks anymore. Go Tom! Go Conchita!
