Israel, Mei Finegold, 3

It’s not a secret that we at WiwiBloggs.com love this year’s Israeli contestant Mei Finegold. She isn’t afraid to let her anger hang out, and she is somehow very charming when she threatens to start “skinning you out” in her music video. The video is great, but the time has come to hear her sing live. We finally have some footage, y’all!

On Sunday Mei was a special guest at Evita, the famous gay bar in Tel Aviv that dedicates every Sunday night to Eurovision. The atmosphere was amazing. The audience welcomed Mei with rapturous applause and screamed the lyrics as she sang. They hugged and kissed and smiled in photos as if they had known each other for years. This diva proved that she and her fans already beat with the “Same Heart”.

Mei sang the song three times and raved about the experience on Facebook afterwards.

My beloved, I had an amazing time at the Evita! It will take me all night to digest the amount of love I got tonight .. I have a great light in life :-)) Good night

Well, it’s not the best stage and sound, but you can definitely see that she CAN sing live and really rock it. We’re sure that on the big stage she’s gonna go crazy with her dancers. Eurovision fan Ben Sailes sent us this first video.

And here’s another…

More live Mei

In case you don’t know, Mei was one of the finalists on the seventh season of Israel’s “Kochav Nolad” (A Star Is Born). She finished in third place. Here are some of her live performances which will wow you.

“Seder Yom”

“Emor shalom” (The Israeli entry for Eurovision 1976, originally sung by Chocolate Menta Mastik)

So what do you think? Will Israel finally make it to the final this year and maybe even win?

Ron Kavaler contributed this report from Israel. You can also keep up with the latest Eurovision news and gossip by following wiwibloggs.com on Twitter and Facebook.

I should note that I do think she’ll make it through, despite the draw.

Mei has the same draw as Valentina did last year (with a smaller number of countries). I certainly hope she doesn’t suffer the same fate!

I just adore her. She has the looks, the attitude, the voice. I just hope we get another live video soon, one with good quality where we can really appreciate her skills.

But she has my heart 😀 I can’t stop loving her.

Instead of ‘not encouraging’, I should have written ‘inconsequential’. You have no argument with me about Mei’s personality, conviviality or exceptional vocal abilities, but that’s not what we’re talking about: based on last night, I have some concerns about whether the excessive pathos and degree of hoarseness in her voice is really pleasant to the ear, as well as a few other unknowns regarding her choreography and fashion choices. A live TV appearance in Israel and abroad or an appearance in front of a live crowd at a professional venue prior to the contest is very much anticipated and the… Read more »

Mei was absolutely fantastic yesterday. Good spirit, playful, friendly and a stunning performer as usual. The Eurofalsh guys really added to the ambiance. She sang the song 3 (!) times and I can’t wait to see the video of the 3rd performance – she took it herself as a “selfie” video and that should be brilliant. Thanks Mei!!

For Erin, you only show how detached you are. everyone else loved it. It must hurt you, Erin, doesn’t it:)

We need to understand that she was performing at a tiny venue, sorrounded by excited fans -and fierce Eurofans at it! I had the chance to visit Evita a couple of years ago and the atmosphere is great 🙂 Mei’s voice is endless, and she can sing up to the stratosphere, as can be seen in the Kochav Nolad videos. Her version of the great Emor Shalom brought the house down as she was participating, and she always made fantastic covers. She is usually involved in the production and arrangements, which also speaks of her musical involvement and talent. I… Read more »

This goes to show that she has an amazing voice.
But I really hope that in Copenhagen she will look exactly like she did in the music video for Same Heart. No dresses! And no long hair.
I want high heels, skin tight outfit and Beyoncé dance moves
And then she will win or be top 3!

1. Israel
2. Portugal
3. UK

They are so caught up in the moment ‘living the dream’ that they can’t hear or see any flaws and considering that this is such an improvised and poorly arranged presentation, the outcome is not encouraging.

A-mazing 🙂
Somehow you cannot NOT love her, and the song.
And I miss the Evita nights… <3
