As Eurovision draws closer things are really heating up in our poll “Who Will Win Eurovision 2014”. As of 10am GMT on April 19, our readers had cast a total of 49,942 votes. That’s an increase of 15,392 since we last checked in on April 2.

Armenia’s Aram Mp3, who looked amazing in a green suit at the London Eurovision Party, is still in the lead with 13,537 votes. That’s more than 27% of all votes cast. He also remains in control with the bookies and is enjoying his spot at the top of the odds table.

But now Aram faces a challenge. Ireland’s Can-linn featuring Kasey Smith has jumped from 11th place on April 2 to second place today. Kasey’s song has been growing on our team for weeks. The Celtic sound of “Heartbeat” is simultaneously Irish and universal. And when she growls at 25 seconds, we shiver. Love this woman! Love this song! She’s earned 8,312 votes, or nearly 17% of all those cast. (Read our latest interview with Kasey here).

Azerbaijan’s Dilara, who did very well with the Wiwi Jury, is sitting pretty in third position with 7,395 votes or nearly 15%. Her song is one of the most difficult to sing, but if she pulls it off this could do very well indeed. Dilara, who spoke with us at Eurovision in Concert, is also a lot of fun. The woman loves to dance. Have you listened to the Azeribaijani version of her entry?

You can listen to all 37 Eurovision songs on our Contestants Page. You can also read our reviews and ratings on the Wiwi Jury Page. And be sure to vote in all of the polls on our Polls Page.

After reviewing the songs again over the weekend, I see a few strong songs – Sweden, Hungary, Russia, and Austria. Outside chance to Israel, Spain, and maybe, maybe Belgium only because that song is very moving. Other than those – there are ok songs, like Ireland, Azerbijan, Malta, Denmark, and possibly Armenia. But I objectively judged the songs by asking myself which ones do I really want to hear again. And at the end of the day, I only wanted to hear again the 4 I mentioned

Since public text votes came in … The eurovision has changed ..everyone votes for there neighbouring country ..no matter how shit the song is …
Maybe If people actually listen to the songs on the night judge on the vocal , song and performance and not judge by what country they are from..I think ireland has a good chance …

Its not about whos song is the most difficult to sing or perform. Its about the show and the whole performance in the final. If teo bakes a cake on the stage in Denmark I would vote for him. Germany has a great song and i think its the dark horse this year! Armenias song is ok but nothing special. And after the homophobic jokes, i dont think Aram will get as many votes! Conchita will score much better than him, possibly win.

IRELAND is number #1 favourite in many countries. Outstanding song. When I listen to it , it gives me those pimples that you get when you are cold when we get excited. I cant wait to see this on the screens so we can see what it looks like. Its promo video gives the song no justice and it is terrible because the song is outstanding.

Alex, be honest. The Movie Song was not the favourite, Heartbeat was. It was the favourite of the public, the jury, the bookies and the Wiwi poll. I don’t think Louis Walsh was the mastermind behind the tweet, I think Niall himself was. If he had any sort of moral compass, he wouldn’t have mentioned it. He knows how big a following he has, and he was going to unfairly influence the vote.

Billy McGuinness was right in his point, but he carried it out in an awful, trampy way.

The first thing that popped into my mind when I heard Ireland’s song was that it was a copy of Only Teardrops. The song’s catchy and all, but the melody strongly resembles Only Teardrops’, just with a few notes changed. The Celtic feel emphasizes that and while there’s nothing wrong with having it in the song, it just makes it scream “plagiarized” even more. I can tell this is going to get old real fast, just like Only Teardrops did.

I am not a fan of Aram MP3 but I wouldn’t mind him winning. Why? For me, because there will be a man who will win the contest rather than another woman just for a change. Second, I want to see Azerbaijan’s reaction like they’ve been told: “in your face!” by Armenians and how they’ll withdraw the 2015 contest.

Being from Ireland, most of us Irish don’t even like our own song, during our voting an attack was made on the actual favourite song saying it was a fix because a member of one direction had twitted support for it, and because Louis Walsh was involved then in outrage the country voted in support of heartbeat to ‘prove’ that voting wasn’t fixed, if we won after that ridiculous mess of a vote it would be undeserved, you can look it up and see Louis Walsh having a yelling match on the late late show(the show where we got to… Read more »

@Eugene UK, I agree with you. These polls aren’t credible and they couldn’t be anymore fabricated: people voting for their own countries, teenagers voting from 10 different emails and computers…. Just not enough for anyone to believe in anything. However, when it comes down to Ireland and Armenia, you have to look at current days politics and of course, statistics. And it’s just obvious that there are going to be more countries giving Armenia 12 points than Ireland. I’m positive that Ireland will not win this year with that song. And the reason why I think Armenia might win this… Read more »

There is no draw for running order position. The same as last year. The producers the same as last year decide the running order of the finalists. Aided by the Eurovision reference group and approved by the Executive supervisor Jon Ola Sand.

yes it is great to be second, but cmon I’m irish and I’m not stupid enough to believe that we came second on the songs merits, europe hates us and wouldn’t vote for us unless we sent euphoria or something like that, my honest prediction for ireland is top half of the right hand side at the moment, but my opinion will more than likely change if i see a good performance in rehearsals, if good stage show and good performance and a good draw than we could potentially get onto the right hand side, but if its the total… Read more »

There is a difference between who you would LIKE to win to who you THINK will win. In the past there are songs I preferred much better than the winning song. But I knew the song that won would win all along. Even though I liked other songs better.

So can we discuss who you would like to win in contrast to who you think will actually win

But the way you argue your point is quite childish. It’s like Bav trying to tell us Russia will win, except you have good English.

@Eugene

It sounds like your representing a very different demographic than the actual voting public. I reckon you’re in your mid 40’s to early 50’s.

So of course you are not going to like the same songs as people in the 17yr old-24yr old category. Or the 25yr old-30yrold Category.

There are better songs out there besides the Irish one. And if anyone is considering the looks of the contestants as a “whole package” kind of thing, please take a closer look. There are better looking contestants too.
This year the Irish dong has noooo chance.

Things will stay the same and I guarantee you that after the rehearsals, bookies will not change their mind. Aram’s live performance was a huge success in London and since then more and more people began loving his song. The more he performs the more he’s getting better. Watch out everyone. He promised to blow your minds on the ESC .

@Eugene Organised Hype? No. The actual, proper Eurovision fan base is far too scattered and small to organise any sort of “hype”.
