If the bookies at PaddyPower have it right, then there is a “Silent Storm” brewing in the second semi-final. Carl Espen, who has one of the strongest ballads of the year, is the current favourite to win with his odds at 8/15.

But Eurovision’s Next Top Model contender Paula Seling is not far behind. She and her musical partner in crime Ovi are second with odds of 2/1. The two are currently making a killer music video for Miracle. Have you seen the photos?

A small gap opens in the oddstable after Norway and Romania. But on the othter side of that gap are the men of Freaky Fortune and Riskykidd, who have odds of 6/1. These guys are ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in our search for Eurovision’s Next Top Male Model, and the bookies can clearly feel their heat! Greece is also ranked second in our poll for the second semi-final, just behind Romania

Ireland’s Can-linn, Austria’s Conchita Wurst, and Malta’s Firelight sit in fourth, fifth and sixth position.

See the latest Eurovision odds at PaddyPower.

Second Semi-final Odds to Win

Norway 8/15
Romania 2
Greece 6
Ireland 9
Austria 10
Malta 10
Poland 12
Israel 20
Finland 25
Belarus 33
Slovenia 40
FYR Macedonia 40
Georgia 40
Switzerland 66
Lithuania 66

Then there are the odds of who will qualify for the final. The bookies predict that Norway, Romania, Greece, Austria, Israel, Ireland, Malta, Poland, Finland, and Belarus will make it to the final. The Wiwi Jury is thrilled to see Israel and Ireland in that list. At the moment they lead our rankings by a lot…

At the moment th bookies think that FYR Macedonia, Switzerland, Lithuania, and Slovenia should book an early flight home…Of course, nothing is actually decided until the 8th of May!

Odds to Qualify for the Final

Norway 1/100
Romania 1/40
Greece 1/8
Austria 1/8
Israel 1/8
Ireland 1/7
Malta 1/4
Poland 1/4
Finland 1/4
Belarus 4/9
FYR Macedonia 4/7
Switzerland 4/6
Lithuania 8/11
Slovenia 5/6
Georgia 5/6

What do you think of the second semi-final odds? Are the bookies on the right track?

Mikateryan – wow, you need to take a chill pill!! or at least get a life. I can just see you jumping off a bridge if Israel qualifies for the final and strangling yourself if Israel has the “nerve” to win it all:)
Remember –
1. Chill Pill
2. Get a life

This semifinal is almost a complete wildcard. The only acts that I think will definitely make it are Romania, Norway, Ireland, and Greece. Norway in 1st just seems incorrect. He’s not the greatest singer, and he has the worst spot in the running order. Romania ought to be up there as the most likely to advance, especially with their draw. The only way they could fail to make it is if Paula messes up that note. Switzerland in joint last seems absurd, though. If there were ever a year that Switzerland were likely to qualify, it’s this year. They’ve been… Read more »

I’d say my personal top is:
1. Israel
2. Macedonia
3. Ireland
4. Greece
5. Slovenia
6. Austria
7. Romania
8. Norway
9. Poland
10. Switzerland
11. Belarus
12. Finland
13. Georgia
14. Lithuania
15. Malta

Although, I think, the only definite qualifiers are Greece, Romania, Ireland and Norway. The rest, I believe is up for grabs and Malta, Finland and Belarus have a 50/50 chance of snaking through to the final instead of Switzerland, Poland and Austria.

I think that Romania will win this Semi-Final
They have a better running order than Norway
Think…after Romania will sing they will open the televoting
Romania(1-TV,3 jury)
Norway(5-Tv,1 Jury)

Note: This is no particular order. I’m just saying who will most likely qualify to the Grand Final.

SF2
Malta
Israel
Norway
Poland
Austria
Finland
Ireland
Macedonia
Greece
Romania

Personal Thoughts?

I doubt Georgia, Lithuania, Belarus, Switzerland and Slovenia will get much votes. I will genuinely be surprised if Switzerland and Slovenia qualified to the Grand Final. Austria is a mystery as to whether or not they will qualify (given Conchita’s Wurst’s look), so people might get turned off by Conchita and vote for another country. Malta is #1 to perform and that doesn’t tend to do well.

After my second evaluation of the studio tracks and music videos, here is how I see the 2nd-round top 10:

1. Norway
2. Romania
3. Macedonia
4. Malta
5. Slovenia
6. Poland
7. Finland
8. Austrria
9. Israel
10. Switzerland
[Switzerland in, Belarus out]

@D I couldn’t agree with you more.

My ideal Semi-Final 2:
1.Israel
2.Poland
3.Ireland
4.Austria
5.Slovenia
6.Greece
7.FYR Macedonia
8.Switzerland
9.Romania
10.Lithuania
11.Malta
12.Finland
13.Belarus
14.Georgia
15.Norway

I know it won’t happen though. Norway and Finland will qualify at the expense of Switzerland and Lithuania, and Belarus will probably qualify instead of Slovenia. Unlikely, but Poland might tank, and Malta qualify instead.

SJ, that was then, now there is a new way of counting votes, and if you do crap in the tele vote and win the jury its a lot more effective, e.g montenegro came 4th in the tele vote last year and still didn’t qualify because of a low jury rank, and the same goes for switzerland and bulgaria. 3 years ago i would agree with you, but this year i don’t.

Italy in final 2011 got on 2 nd place in final ( 1 with juries and only 11 in televote in final with 25 countries).

@sj, malta is going to get nothing with the tele vote due to it performing first, that will hold it back to like 8th or 9th, which should still see it through, but it defiantly won’t be top 5 in the semi.

I don’t think I’ll ever understand how Romania and Norway are the two favourites in this semi. Both are uninspiring generic songs for their respective genre and I haven’t heard overly positive responses from people about either of them so I know this isn’t just me. I especially don’t know how betting agencies are placing Norway in the top five for the final. That just blows my mind. Also, the fact that Slovenia and Macedonia have worse odds than Belarus is just baffling.

@Adrian Lacoste ‘I don’t get this “hate” towards this country that year on year knows how to play the cards very well by sending great songs with memorable stage prensentations.’ Dude, where have you been all this time? 😉 The Azeris know only one thing- pay money. The rest does the Swedish, (sometimes Greek), Ukrainian teams. Swedes (sometimes greeks) having the music&lyrics, back-vocal, dancers, stage presentation parts- Ukrainians -video-making, pr etc. etc. since 2009)) Still wonder why they are hated? Oh, and don’t forget the scandals with interrogation of their people who voted for Armenian entry and grey out numbers… Read more »

Lio Anch, thats exactly what everyone said about valentina last year, and they still didn’t make it, the fact that israel haven’t got any haters from what i can see isn’t a good sign, if it really was as good as people say it is than it would have sh*t load of haters (e.g sweden and Armenia) and the fact that its not even in the top 10 in the bookies is because none has the balls to say it will qualify when there putting there own money at risk. everyone in that semi have 2 or 3 voting strengths… Read more »

I’ ve been watching very closely the build up to this year’s contest manly because of my country Romania sending a great song with two excelent charismatic performers. I think our entry will be the easiest on the ears and eyes of the public this year and certainly the national juries will held it high enough. I think it will do very well in the grand final. Now my honest opinion on the potential winners in random order:) Azerbaijan – The song is beautiful with a very understated instrumentation and very well thought lyrics. I don’t get this “hate” towards… Read more »

Mikateriyan- Wow you are a true Israeli hater (the song), aren’t you? They have a very good song. You are so sure that it deserves a bottom 5 in semi-final 2? You’ve posted here so many posts just saying how bad and overated the Israeli song. Have you took 5 minutes to read Wiwi’s jury thoughts of it? have you ever looked at the Israeli singer’s live vocals and performance at the Russian party? Maybe they won’t win, maybe they won’t qualify (and believe me if that happens it won’t be because they have a bad song), but they certainly… Read more »

and do you seriously think israel is the second best song of the year? YEAAAAAH RIIIIIIGHT! Hungary,Armenia,Norway,Denmark and many other are better than it, there is always at least 1-2 fanwank flops out of the top 5 of the OGAE voting, and atm out of the top 5 israel is the only one that i can see flopping ( UK are always overrated by OGAE so idc for there ranking) you will all see.

I am doing a review on every song on facebook, the group is called 2befrank about eurovision. This is my opinion on Georgia Country: Georgia Song: Three minutes to Earth 1 point for the shameless courage to send in this piece of crap. What the hell is going on here?? Is this The Shining meets ET and/or did ET do more than just stick his finger in Drew Barrymore and this is the result?? Did Extra-Terrestrials compose this song cause it makes no sense to me. sopon, imo israel needed a later draw to even come close to qualifying, and also macedonia who are 11th in the running take more wind out of there sails, this makes it even worse for them, and the fact they are israel means they already are at a disadvantage because of everyone idea of israel and also israel have no voting strength. last year birgit qualified because of good voting strength and diaspra, ireland gave it 8 points (diaspra) and without that 8 pointer it wouldn’t have made it, plus it is actually very bad singing second, its just by… Read more »

I do not think Israel is overrated by any means. Having the second slot is actually a blessing. In the past 5 years, it has been the most successful slot in the semi finals (only Ireland and San Marino failed to qualify from this slot, and Estonia even qualified last year with sweet but boring Birgit in the second slot). Given that Mei has one of the strongest songs and voices in the competition and has no one competing in her genre in the semis, she should definitely stand out and qualify. Maybe not win the semi, but around 4-7.

Easpag i wouldn’t consider norway an OBVIOUS qualifier, its third in the running order only one country to defiantly give it votes (Finland) and is very forgettable, and you must remember that in the Semis of MGP it was his first ever live performance in his entire life, so its not like he’s someone you can relie on in the jury, i’d say he’s most likely going to go through, but i wouldn’t be 100% surprised if it missed out i’d probably raise an eyebrows but wouldn’t be surprised as norway have a history of completely bombing (HABA HABA) Being… Read more »
