We here at wiwibloggs have been busy finalizing the reviews and rankings of our Eurovision favourites. There are about 20 of us involved in that. But OGAE offers an even larger sample, with thousands of OGAE fans all across the world expressing who they think should win. This is how it looks after counting the results from 37 OGAE fan clubs.

OGAE Voting Results (27 April 2014)

343 – Sweden
230 – Hungary
217 – Israel
193 – Austria
153 – Armenia
151 – UK
123 – Norway
94 – Spain
94 – Greece
75 – Montenegro
74 – Italy
51 – Denmark
35 – France
31 – Netherlands
29 – Germany
29 – Ireland
25 – Belgium
23 – Azerbaijan
22 – Russia
20 – San Marino
18 – Romania
15 – Finland
13 – Ukraine
13 – Poland
12 – Slovenia
11 – Switzerland
10 – Latvia
9 – Estonia
9 – Malta
8 – Belarus
7 – Moldova
7 – Iceland
2 – Georgia
2 – FYR Macedonia
0 – Albania, Lithuania, Portugal

As you can see Sweden has this in the bag with over 300 points and over half of the 12s.

In second we have Hungary. Andras is currently more than 100 points behind. In recent years finishing second in the OGAE poll has been a kiss of death: San Marino’s Valentina Monetta came second last year and failed to qualify.

Ukraine’s Mariya Yaremchuck is the bookies’ fourth-favourite, but she isn’t even in the Top 20 with the OGAE. Romania and Azerbaijan are also predicted to do well by the bookies, but they aren’t making much of an impact here.

Three countries have 0 points, this may be a dream or a curse as Greece had 0 points last year and came 6th with “Alcohol Is Free”.

OGAE Belgium, OGAE Sweden and OGAE Andorra still have to report their voting results.

The OGAE poll has predicted more winners than not. Does this mean a win for Sanna? Will we be undoing our sad love in Malmo next year? Only time will tell….

Hi guys

Listen, I like Undo, but it sounds too much like a song that a female winner of The X Factor UK would sing as her winning single. I would have much rathered Helena Paparizou with ‘Survivor’. She would have definitely brought the contest back to Sweden next year. It was a very powerful, yet sexy and sultry song and performance.

In my opinion only 4 songs have a chance of winning the contest sweden, norway, armenia and greece.

@ Eugene You are right – I think that the OGAE is a self-selecting group (people who decide themselves to do something), they have not been selected. When you do surveys etc. the idea is to get a representitive sample of the population – a mix of gender, age, background, race etc. etc. OGAE, I suspect is full of Eurovision fans, which I believe have a very distinct profile – you can see them all in shots of the crowd at many of the more recent Eurovision shows. This doesn’t mean the survey is always wrong, but that it is… Read more »

@armenian Guy, So you think my comment was funny? I know much more about this whole thing than you or anybody in here knows. You wanna bet that it’s going to be exactly how I said it? Year after year, regardless what Russia’s contestants sing, Armenia’s 12 points almost always go to Russia. I guess this year it’s going to be different? Let’s hope so. But I doubt it. When was the last time Armenia received any points from Scandinavian countries? Uuuuhhhh…. NEVER!!! Not even with Sirusho. Not even one point!! From 2006 till now, Armenia did NOT get any… Read more »

@Ryanireland,
Oh dear…. I never said I agree with the whole situation. First of all I do not live in Armenia or anywhere in Europe. But I follow ESC year after year and unfortunately it is a bitter reality. Everything is politicized. EVERYTHING!!… And yes, unfortunately it’s not only about Armenia, but the whole Europe. The whole voting is very predictable most of the time and I actually advise you to watch the voting videos on youtube and pay close attention to BBC commentators. This whole thing….. It’s quiet unfair.

People are so sensitive this year…
@Ryanirland calm down .Nobody knows who how many point will give .Lolilly just says her opinion ,which is a little bit funny for me.
Like WTF seriously ? Why are you so sure?If people like it they will vote.
I do not know about Sweden(because people do not really like it ) but Armenia will definitely give points to UK ,because many Armenian people like it , and UK is also favourite .So does not matter.

@ lolilly Your argument is unreal, your saying Armenia won’t give Sweden 12 because they are your main competition, ah now I see, in other words, what your trying to say, is that regardless of how good the song is, that even if say it deserves your 12 that your country won’t give it!,,, democracy is a live and well I see. Surely I’d a country deserves the 12 then they should get it, regardless of been the main completion, do you honestly think the people Of Sweden would be thinking the same, or if your main competition was Portugal… Read more »

I wouldn’t even bother to pay any attention to the OGAE voting because it’s just lame lame and more lame. In OGAE Armenia gave 12 points to Sweden. Yeah right!! That’s never going to happen, since Armenia’s #1 competition is Sweden. Also, nonparticipating countries still vote in OGAE, which makes everything a joke. OGAE, on the other hand, is an eye opener. People who expect points from certain countries and are not getting any points from them during OGAE voting, will never give any points to those countries during the real voting. OGAE is actually making the real voting even… Read more »

Think a lot of so called ESC “experts” hate Sweden but it is popular with the masses and you’d dismiss it at your peril. The San marino 2nd last year was a joke, but this year I think OGAE will be more right than wrong. It underestimates Armenia and possibly overestimates Austria and Israel, though these are decent best for top ten finishes. At the moment I’d go

1. Sweden
2. Armenia
3. Hungary
4 UK
5. Denmark
6. Greece
7 Spain
8 Azerbaijan
9 Norway
10 Austria

Hungary could be a major surprise if the racists don’t cost him!

Only time will tell if Sanna will win, at the end of the day, the OGAE poll is just a fan poll like any other, however, because of the way is handled, I would trust it a lot more than let’s say the poll here at wiwibloggs or any other blog, so I consider it a more accurate indicator than any other poll.
With Aram on top with the bookies and Sanna on top with the OGAE, it will be in interesting final I think, at least more than in 2012 or 2013 when we had a more clear favourite.

@Cathal I agree 100%!
Ireland does not get the respect/support it deserves, I’m sure if Kasey Smith sang Heartbeat representing Sweden, it would be one of the top favourites too!

Anyway, I don’t really pay attention to OGAE votes, there’s countries that vote in the OGAE that are not a part of the EBU such as Australia, USA etc!

My favourite this year is Ireland, vote Ireland in the 2nd Semi Final & the Grand Final please!

Correction:

The Sweden song is very good very eurovisionery, but it does leave me a bit cold and the chorus “undo” does fail a bit to convince it’s a winner, Spain is stronger and stage takeover, I think Spain is gonna fill the stage completely with “Dancing in the rain” and very likely to win the victory after soooo many years, I be happy to see Eurovision going to Spain next year with “Dancing in the rain” entry, I am sure the show is going to be colourful with Spanish deligation and tohether with whole Europe

Sweden is Favourite for Win Eurovision 2014. But i’m not sure Sweden will win it despite winning in OGAE awards and i don’t hope Sweden win again or Scandinavian and USSR. I think the winner Eurovision 2014 is Southern Europe (San Marino,Italy,Spain) or Ireland and i want Southern Europe (include Portugal) for Win

@ Solana, no, most of us don’t want Sweden to win basicaly because of the song. I guess many people wish new countries to win, but that’s not my case. I understand Sweden will always deliver a great show and they have all my respect. But in my opinion, Undo sucks.

OMG… Most of you don’t want Sweden to win not because of the song. You don’t want Sweden to win because they won two years ago and that’s not fair. Sanna has a good song and an great voice that obviously makes her stand out of the bunch of ballads this year. Anyway, I really hope that the best song wins and for me it’s Sweden’s.

For anyone saying that Sweden’s contest sucked last year, I think it was actually nicer to go smaller. Especially with cutting down the number of hosts. I was hoping Denmark would have followed Sweden with that, because having three hosts is a bit much. I hate to sound like the Petra Mede version of dhani, but Petra was the best host in eons and we need another like her.

WOW! There’s a lot of hating on Sweden here… Well I’m not here to bitch about sweden, but to rather comment about the fact that The Netherlands on 14th!!! It’s my favorite song this year, but i expected it to be low on the list. It sucks that i can’t vote for it in the semi-finals (I’m from Norway) so please guys, vote for The Netherlands.

And also, stop hating on Sweden (God, what’s wrong with some of this fanbase?)

@Dhani Well your the pathetic one if you ask me. Actually Im a proud swede, and I rather be a swede than to be danish.

Denmark has won the competition 3 times and Sweden has won 5 times. I hope it’s 6 times now when Sanna wins and she will win. You know she’s going to win that’s why you feel threatened.

And stop talking about helena. Sanna’s song was much better and yes ur right, denmark’s song is soooo boring this year.

dhani

@UNDO hahah you are pathetic you are obviously a Sanna Nielsen hardcore fan or just a Swede. no sannas song is not the best this year, its just a mediocre and boring song.
and im from denmark , my country won last year so im definitely not jealous cause of my country never wins….. and i dont even support my country this year, actually i hate my countrys song.

The power of OGAE is to put 2000 fans near the stage. Not sure how they got this big ticketing facility. Other than this I am pretty sure that not more than 15-20 OGAE national clubs have real influence with national broadcasters and fans (not a decisive influence with fans/viewers as it cannot be one). Will try to name them in no particular order but is more a wild guess: UK, France, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Ireland, Iceland, Belgium, Greece, Malta, Italy.

What the fans like =/= What the general viewers like. The fans don’t make up most of the voters so that’s why the fans often get it very wrong. The fans love songs of certain styles like disco, cheesy pop and schlager, but the viewers couldn’t care less. Also people have their favourite country in the contest and will support it no matter what, Sweden is one of the biggest examples of this. Most people will be hearing this song for the first time without knowing Sanna and I doubt sweden will bother the Top 5.

How can Sanna win after she won with a difference from only two points at Melodienfestivalen? XD

I think she’s heavenly overrated. I think she shouldn’t even be in the top 15 – I hate this song XD But it will probably end up in top 5, but I hope another country will take the victory. I’ve got no problems with Running 🙂

Stevie

I think OGAE members are more likely than the average Eurovision viewer to pay attention to Sweden’s Melodifest and therefore have a soft spot for Sanna. I don’t believe that this song will connect as strongly with first time listeners.
I have a feeling this year’s voting is going to be very exciting indeed.

If you gave ireland the exact same song with the exact same singer everyone would be like *Ireland pfft just a nothing f**king ballad* but because sweden have sent it everyone is like *OMG this is amazing,* might I remind you that sweden won the OGAE poll in 2008 and they still should have gotten knocked out in the semis.

if sweden wins again, itll be the dead of eurovision. more countries will pull out and we will have a bad contest like last year in malmo

and the OGAE clubs has bad taste if they let sweden win by a landslide. the song is extremely mediocre and boring, and i don’t believe a word she sings. i could understand it better if Helena paparizou had won mf.

if you want a god contest with more countries next year, dont vote for Sweden!

The OGAE consists of morons who support the same outdated rubbish that has plagued the contest in the past. These people are, without a doubt, part of what’s wrong with Eurovision. They need to expand their musical tastes…
