Wiwi: During Softengine’s press conference after the second rehearsal, one of the journalists in the press corps asked me if Topi was stoned. Had he seen their second rehearsal he would know that they were not. I think this is tasteful and true to their alt-rock roots. They aren’t trying too hard and I actually think the yelling at the end works quite well. The boys weren’t smoking weed today. They were simply smokin’!

Patrick: Hmmm… There’s too much lightning and everything is so bright – it’s just too much! Topi’s vocals are great but I can’t stand his screaming at the end. Anger management classes are a must. It kind of kills the momentum of the song. My opinion hasn’t changed from the first to the second rehearsal. I’m dissapointed Finland!

Judit: This song has something special. It’s not my style, but after all the ballads and generic pop songs, it’s something fresh. Good luck Softengine!

I think they are excellent and their song is great. But the fact that someone asked “is Topi stoned” is really inappropriate and tacky in my opinion. I know Finnish guys at this age and this is how they are, it’s not just “rock/ego thing”, it’s also a cultural thing. They are shy and little cocky. When you get to know them they are talkative and fun. The Finnish interviews are very different, they are more relaxed and funny.

Don’t judge people because of their age, culture and language barriers.

The lead singer doesn’t look interested and neither am I.

This could improve vocally and he should keep his eyes open while he sings. But it is good enough and I love the energy that explodes from the stage during the chorus. They sound different than the rest – good for them.
