Wiwi: Britain’s Molly Smitten-Downes is going for gold! Continuing the trend of golden girls at Eurovision 2014 (hello Conchita, hello Kasey!) she sparkled in a shimmering golden dress. She appeared to be holding back vocally—she wants to be fresh on Saturday. But she still impressed. She’s got her camera cues down and there’s something really organic and natural about this. In a sea of aspiring pop stars she clearly wants to be an artist. I love this. It’s no wonder her odds continue to shrink with the bookies.

Patrick: Aww what happend to Molly? She sounded less perfect than usual today… The stage looks wonderful, the colours, the lights – amazing. I still miss a bit of pyro action but maybe it’s a surprise for the final? Molly’s dress looks great but I expected something different, something more…the performance of “Team UK” is nice but a bit boring today…

Bogdan: Molly looked positively radiant on the stage. Her golden dress with feather trimmed collar looked like a classic Eurovision outfit without being a deja-vu (I’m looking at you, Kasey). Molly didn’t sound as great as she did during the first rehearsal, but I am suspecting she is saving her voice for Saturday. Same goes with the pyro curtain maybe? I hope they keep it; it had a WOW effect that made the press here call Molly a winner already.

Molly also drew her running order position. She will perform in the second half of the grand final.

Hmmm, I liked the recorded version, but something just went a bit flat. 🙁 like the chorus but the rest, her voice is not very good in parts and the backing singers are a little out at times.
Beginning to drop in my list, but I wish the UK all the very best 🙂

@Paul @emby2
Sorry my wording was a bit exaggerated 😉 I was disappointed that she would not sing as if she was delivering the actual presentation. You can guess my the rest of my comments anyway that I really like this entry.

I really hope the UK does something big this year. It´s the country I´d like to see in the top (after mine of course). Molly´s song has something special, the same charm that made “Satellite” a winner.

Good luck to the UK from Spain

A flawless performance but she looks a bit sullen and bored in this rehearsal. I hope she will be more engaged on final night.

Why does every girl wear gold this year?

Marcelo, it’s pretty clear she was saving her voice. If you think that’s some sort of excuse, then how do you explain her vocals in her (live) launch? There are some singers who need to practice their vocals. There are others who know that vocals will not be a problem. If Molly falls into the latter category, she would be stupid to strain her voice in a meaningless rehearsal and risk causing damage which might hurt her in the Jury final or the live final.

It’s not as if you have to take OUR word for it. She said it herself at the meet and greet the other day that she’s saving her voice. Doesn’t make the final any less nerve-wracking for us though!

Saving her voice my ass!! Either you can sing a song as it should be or you shouldn’t.
That said, the vocal arrangements for the backing vocalists are great and the overall presentation is very, very nice. Hope they don’t overdo it by ESCing it too much with fire and assorted non-musical gimmicks, though we know that is practically bound to happen 😉

Let’s not get carried away, fellow UK fans. I’ve seen this optimism before, in 2009 and 2011. I think she’ll get a result in between the placings of those two years, fifth and 11th. I don’t like how she mumbles for the first 20 seconds.

At some parts the song reminds me ‘royals’ of Lord and ‘paradise’ of coldplay but I love her voice!Anyway good luck UK 🙂

Have to agree with Patrick on this one. They performance was a bit meh. However, I’m not worried. Can imagine they’re holding back a lot. Don’t think it’s a top 3 song. My bet is it will finish in 5th, which is great position for the UK and will only help to reinforce interest back home from singer/songwriters like Molly.

She’s performing in the second half? YES YES YES YEEEES. I genuinely believe that certifies a Top 5 finish for her now.
