Adelén, the Norwegian-Spanish beauty who rose to prominence when she failed to win Norway’s Eurovision selection in 2013, has just released “Olé (Stadium Anthem Mix)”–one of the official tracks for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil. That’s right people: Lil’ Miss Adelén is going global.
As part of A’s debut on the global stage, producers have cranked up the Auto-Tune and warmed up the synthesizer. This is disposable pop at its finest, and is sure to make you move–whether on the dance floor or in the football stadium in Belo Horizonte.
Thematically, the song is the next step in the Emancipation of Adelén. She turned all sexy on us during her most recent single “Always on My Mind”, and now she is blasting female empowerment and calling on ladies to express their desires. As she says: “I like like it loud, I like it!”
For me this number reaches its lyrical heights when she announces who she is, just in case we don’t know: “My name is ADELEN/ From Rio to Bailén!” We also now know that she enjoys a drink: “Pick up your glasses/ And raise them up high, high high/ Everybody!”
