Back in 2011 Alex Sparrow treated Eurovision fans to “Get You”, a bilingual boyband number replete with some sick choreography and LED lights on his jacket.

Since then he’s kept the dance moves and flashy displays, but his releases have been in the Russian language. Yes, it is still pop, but only the ex-Soviets are likely to get it. That said, he does keep churning out the tracks like Beyonce’s sister churns out smacks to Jay-Z. Bam!

“Always Be With You” is the follow-up single to the poetic and visually orgasmic “Please be Weaker”. After the heights of that release, the quality here really takes a dive in what proves to be a failed attempt to document teenage love. This lightweight track doesn’t make me move, nor does his forced smile in the video. I may have related better to it when I was 14, but like most adults, I’m struggling today. Perhaps he’s aiming younger. Either way it’s out of step…

Score 2.5/5

Always be with you — Alex Sparrow (English lyrics / translation)

On the wall in your entryway
I am writing you a letter
Starting on the 8th, and finished
On the 10th …
You ordinary girl,
I’m not a prince and not a hero,
But I promise only
I’ll always be with you.

Her smile is a light-hearted,
With a dimpled,
And I’m confused
In my thoughts randomly
Trying to find the words
Besides that can not be explained.
She looks up and smiles,
Stupid situation.
Whence you fell
On my head?
It is to such changes
Was obviously not ready.
I do not understand one thing:
You laugh at jokes
Or me?
Okay … Last anecdote
And ask your room.

On frozen windows
I draw your portrait,
Falling asleep without you
I leave for the night light
Pencils Entries
Hide thoughts of you

You do not know,
That Moscow does not believe in tears,
But if you cry,
I’ll be there, believe me.

On the wall in your entryway
I am writing you a letter
Starting on the 10th, and finished
On the eighth …
You ordinary girl,
I’m not a prince and not a hero,
But I promise only
I’ll always be with you.

I’ll always be with you

Oh, I remember him performing on the Dusseldorf stage. He yells to the audience a phrase that sounds like:
“Do you feel my armpit Europe!?”
And wasn’t he gonna be featured in an American international film this year or the next year? Hoping to see that soon.

I never liked this guy. Always thought he was so cocky and full of himself.

If the boy’s supposed to be Alex when he was younger, why have they got different coloured eyes? Damn right, Deban – his smile is so phoney.
