If you’re a Eurovision fan, then you’ve probably seen Martina Majerle perform several times. Yet this blond beauty, who is one of Eurovision’s most prolific performers of recent times, is also one of the most unknown. She has performed for several artists in several Balkan countries, showing her versatility in genre and range every single time. Martina, you might not be a household name like Loreen or Céline, but today we honor you and all of your Eurovision efforts.
Her first Eurovision performance was in 2003, at the young age of 23. She performed with Claudia Beni for her homeland, Croatia, singing “Više nisam tvoja”, and placed 15th.

The highest scoring entry she ever performed in was in 2011, when she backed up Maja Keuc in “No One”. Keuc placed 13th, Slovenia’s best result since 2001.
She was the lead singer of the Slovene entry when the contest was held in Moscow in 2009. Quartissimo originally planned on entering “Love Symphony” as an instrumental. Since Eurovision rules prohibit songs without lyrics, two verses (one in English and one in Slovene) were written, and Martina was drafted in to sing. They placed 16th in the semi-final.
She and Stefan Filipovic failed to qualify in 2008, when they represented Montenegro.
She did qualify while representing Montenegro in 2014, this time performing alongside Sergej Cetkovic with the song “Moj svijet”, which placed 19th.
She represented Slovenia in 2007 when she accompanied Alenka Gotar in the gothic “Cvet z Juga”. It placed 15th.
Sadly, she did not qualify the third time that she represented Slovenia, this time with Eva Boto in “Verjamem”. They placed 17th out of 18 in the semi-final, making this her lowest scoring entry yet.
Martina, thumbs up to you. You have not given up yet, and no matter what the result is, we still love you and your undying spirit!

Verjamem had some weak vocals and off-key backing vocals in the live performance… the song is still one of the best of 2012 and it’s stuck in my head all the time, but in retrospect the result is not terribly surprising.
I’m really happy for Martina that she’s gotten the chance to be part of all these performances. Here’s to more Eurovision experiences for her! 🙂

Wow, I knew Martina was the voice in Quartissimo’s Love Symphony and that she was a backing singer for Maja Keuc, I didn’t know of all the rest, I didn’t even recognize her alongise Sergej, now THAT is having a long Eurovision history 😛

why didn’t slovenia qualify in 2012?? it was an amazing song !!! sometimes i really don’t get eurovision results, just like israel this year!!!
