Conchita Wurst, the reigning queen of Eurovision, is keeping very busy in the weeks after her coronation—and she isn’t about to slow down. On June 28 she’ll be back in London, but this time she won’t be performing at a Eurovision night at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. No, she’s going to headline London Pride 2014.
On Friday evening Pride In London confirmed that Conchita will take to the main stage at the free event in Trafalgar Square. Conchita also released this video saying that she hopes to see “each and every one of (you)”.
Michael Salter, the Chair of Pride in London, commended her for “raising the profile of the LGBT+ community across the continent”. She’s been doing that digitally with her “#unstoppables” hashtag. And she’s also been doing it in person, by werking at Pride events around Europe. She was recently honored with the inuaugral “Unstoppable Award” at Zurich Pride. And she will perform alongside Ruth Lorenzo (and other ESC stars) at Shangay Pride in Madrid.
She won’t have quite so much Eurovision company in London, where she’ll be rubbing shoulders alongside the likes of Sinitta and failed 1995 entrant Sam Fox. Somehow, though, you get the feeling that Conchita will be stealing the show no matter where she goes for quite some time!
