Conchita Wurst, the reigning queen of Eurovision, is keeping very busy in the weeks after her coronation—and she isn’t about to slow down. On June 28 she’ll be back in London, but this time she won’t be performing at a Eurovision night at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. No, she’s going to headline London Pride 2014

On Friday evening Pride In London confirmed that Conchita will take to the main stage at the free event in Trafalgar Square. Conchita also released this video saying that she hopes to see “each and every one of (you)”.

Michael Salter, the Chair of Pride in London, commended her for “raising the profile of the LGBT+ community across the continent”. She’s been doing that digitally with her “#unstoppables” hashtag. And she’s also been doing it in person, by werking at Pride events around Europe. She was recently honored with the inuaugral “Unstoppable Award” at Zurich PrideAnd she will perform alongside Ruth Lorenzo (and other ESC stars) at Shangay Pride in Madrid.

She won’t have quite so much Eurovision company in London, where she’ll be rubbing shoulders alongside the likes of Sinitta and failed 1995 entrant Sam Fox. Somehow, though, you get the feeling that Conchita will be stealing the show no matter where she goes for quite some time!

@Timo: Calling someone you don’t know “horrible” is making you also a judgemental person. Want a piece of advice: ignore everything you read, you don’t like or can’t relate to. You will feel so damn better about yourself. And you will come out on top .. 🙂

@Alex: I don’t even think Conchita is worried about being mainstream or not. I also believe she/he is not into this for the music … more for the personal fame disguised in this role of representing us all the LGBT community under the wing of her Eurovision winning. But will that be relevant next year? I don’t think so … whoever wins 2015 Eurovision is not gonna get the same fuzz Conchita is getting, cuz the same trick does not work twice in short span of time.

A message to all Anti Conchitas,

What do you have against Conchita? The fact that Tom Neuwirth is a drag artist and dresses up as a lady with a beard.

What should you have against Conchita? Nothing at all.

For those Anti Conchitas? Support Conchita. He/she is an exceptional person with an incredible talent and huge future.

Also, AGirl, I am pretty sure Conchita is working on releasing new music. But that takes time. Do you know how long it took her to reveal ‘Rise Like a Phoenix’?? It took 7 months and had multiple delays. Why? Because Conchita works hard to find the right song. She doesn’t just release music to make money now that her name is all over the place, she takes time to make sure it’s perfect.

Mark, you are a horrible person. So judgemental and obsessed. You really need to re-evaluate your life.

Conchita forgot all of us fans who vote for her for the music, leave us and go to pride and other gay events instead of give us who poll for her music songs and album

Sadly, Conchita will be remembered as a LGTB artist and she won’t do a mainstream career. TV shows want her for interviews and they don’t ask her to perform music.

All you need to do: be a drag or be a trans or just say 24h a day you’re gay … next thing you might win Eurovision because “we know who we are and we’re unstoppable” … even if most of us are having more fun in the bathhouse than being worried if Russia hates us or not … next step: to be on every European gay pride there is to be … something an ordinary (straight?) musician would never be granted in a lifetime …. pride? of being gay? and living inside the gay box? excluding all the non-gay?… Read more »

I don’t know why the organizers at the Europride are so stupid, that they don’t invite Conchita Wurst! To a EUROpride 🙁 It will be a nice party in Oslo for sure. But c’mon… I want CONCHITA!

@Charles: Loreen performed at Stockholm Pride 2012, and Emmelie at Stockholm Pride 2013. Even Lys Assia performed at Stockholm Pride 2013.

However, Conchita has very prominently promoted LGBT rights across Europe and is moreover a part of the drag tradition, so it’s no surprise that her profile would be raised among the European LGBT community and thus be invited to so many pride events.

Loreen did nothing for no one, Loreen only cares about Loreen. She had the chance to make a statement about human rights in Azerbaijan, she kept quiet and just said “I love you Bakuuuuuuuuu” whereas Conchita actually used her spotlight to shine the light on Putin, with her Unstoppable speech, and continues to actually be an ambassador outside the contest, working for good rather than just selling CDs. As for Emmelie De Forrest who knows what happened to her what she did, apart from come back this year with an actual winning song, as opposed to the all right little… Read more »

I don’t remember anyone inviting Loreen or Emmelie to any gay pride of high profile … but I get it… you wear the LGBT tag on your head 24h a day and you win Eurovision … will this happen again in 2015? Otherwise who shall they invite next year if tagless music wins again?
