Scooch: the UK’s pick in 2007

Choreography is key to any Eurovision performance. Sometimes the moves are spot-on, as with D’NASH and Mei Finegold. In other instances it’s less fierce and more adorable. Cue Tina Karol—the Ukrainian cowgirl from 2006—with her jump rope, sequined boots and yee-haw air kisses.

Werk it, gurl.

Naturally not everyone knows how to werk the stage. Sometimes attempts to bust a move result in motions that can only be described as cheesy, awkward, or just plain wrong. Prepare to call the dance police. These are five acts that need to head back to the studio.

Eurovision GIFs: Dance edition

Patricia Kaas (France 2009)

Her song and vocals were as graceful as a swan, but her dancing? Duck out of water. Or should we say, “Drunk Matador”?

 Jedward (Ireland 2011 & 2012)

jedwardheadshaking
They tried to shake the awful, robotic dance moves out of their heads. Sadly, they looked like they had water stuck in their ears.

 Kreisiraadio (Estonia 2008)

At least they knew they had no swag. Coming to theaters soon: How Kreisiraadio Got Their Groove Back

Scooch (United Kingdom 2007)

I don’t know where you think this plane is headed, ‘cuz it certainly isn’t taking off. SECURITY!

Buranovskiye Babushki (Russia 2012)

Uncoordinated at best. And is she seriously waving hello to her mum?

What other acts lacked magic with their moves? Who offended you and who blew it out of the water? Let us know in the comments box below.

Teo with the sidestep walking while singing and unbuttoning his coat this year.
The 360 degrees rotation of Loboda in 2009.
The hat kicking of Rybak’s dancers in 2009.
The backward jump and butt-slapping of Sakis while shaking it in 2004.
The take-your-coat-off move by Athena in 2004.
Not to mention the biggest dance showing in recent ESC history, Verka.

The Jedward twins are like Chip ‘n’ Dale gone drunk of too much sugar 😀
But I still think they are a nice episode of the Eurovision history.

I suppose Nikolaj and Pilou’s dancing when Redrama was rapping was pretty embarrassing.

Tijana from this year was so painful to watch…even though she wasn’t doing anything. Love the song, hate the performance.

Hahah when I seen that picture of Scooch (United Kingdom 2007) I instantly remembered the guy asking if I wanted “something to suck on”

Greece’s Watch My Dance was unwatchable. Cheesy dancing to a terrible song.

Patricia’s ‘dance’ was just part of an extremely elaborate bow, which was warranted after such an intoxicating bull-breaker of a song.

Being fun and being good or having a good song do not mean the same thing ,,,
