Ruth Lorenzo was the only singer from the Big Five to achieve a Top 10 placing in Copenhagen. Her song “Dancing in the Rain” showed off her powerhouse vocals and boy did she hit those high notes. At various moments we thought her voice would literally bring the house down. Apparently our readers agreed. After counting 2,698 votes, we can now reveal that they have awarded Ruth the Rona Nishliu Award for Best Live Vocals.

The Rona Nishliu Award honours Albania’s 2012 contestant who finished fifth at Eurovision. Rona delivered “Suus” with unrivalved emotion and somehow managed to stay in tune while working every inch of her expansive register. Rona, we salute you!

@Darren, You are probably right, the next big 5 country to win might be Italy. Lets talk about some of the contenders you have mentioned: 1. The Netherlands: They may have failed to qualify 8 times consecutively. But they have really taken Eurovision by storm last year and this year. 2. Huh. I didn’t rate her vocals at all.
Though frankly, none of this year’s entrants were fit to lick Rona Nishliu’s boots.
I thought the Common Linnets were better than Ruth, sorry… and Hersi and Carl also sounded better. Ruth was noticeably a bit off for parts of the first half of the song, while those other three were just exceptional.
Sergej shouldn’t have been on this list – he was totally sharp in the final performance!

Pretty sure if Spain win, the host city would probably be either Madrid, Barcelona or Valencia…with Madrid and Barcelona being the front runners.
I dont think Spain will win anytime soon though, maybe in a few years. But I think the next Big 5 country that will win will be Italy.
Judging by statistics, I think Italy, The Netherlands, Hungary, Ireland and Sweden are the contenders, but obviously that will probably change when the songs are released.
Spain really is heading for a 3rd win. Which is great for me, I know Spain inside out (Not really, but still.) I have been there 20 times (6 times to the UK. I now want to travel to the Balkans [Montenegro, Bulgaria, Croatia and Turkey especially] and Scandinavia [Sweden and Denmark].) . If both Eurovision and The X Factor were based on vocals only, Ruth would have won both shows. I am surprised that Simon Cowell and Dannii Minogue didn’t get behind her. But then again, she did not represent the UK. She represented Spain (I am going there on Thursday morning. :D).

Paula didn’t make the shortlist and I understand why. Miracle did NOT showcase her vocals. Yes she hit one high note, but the rest of the song didn’t require any vocal ability…
