Emmelie de Forest’s single ‘Rainmaker’, the official anthem of Eurovision 2014, has been certified Gold with over 1.3 million streams since its release in her native Denmark.

Miss de Forest promoted the song throughout the 2013-14 national selection season, culminating in a performance of the song during the intermission of the 2014 Grand Final at the B&W Hallerne.

A performance from the host country’s winning artist has been a tradition at the contest with winners including Celine Dion, Helena Paparizou and Loreen all appearing the following year and performing follow-up singles to boot.

Emmelie recently appeared in Belarus to perform at the Vitebsk festival but ran into trouble when her suitcase failed to arrive and she was forced to find a last minute replacement.

Emmelie atleast did not need a beard and a gimmick to win Eurovision! Good for her! Pure talent.
