2015 is going to be a great year, y’all! According to sources close to BNT, Bulgaria is very likely to confirm a return to Eurovision 2015. This revelation comes after Bulgaria confirmed that it will participate in this year’s installment of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Conchita’s victory is making the returns unstoppable!

Even though Bulgaria has only qualified once (2007), it has come close several times (2008, 2011, 2012, and 2013). Bulgaria withdrew after the 2013 citing financial reasons, and partly because of disappointment with Stoyan’s and Elitsa’s result, much to the chagrin of Bulgarian musicians. Random: We still love this photo of Elitsa who took crazy to a whole new level on the red carpet.

At the moment there seems to be no decision about whether there will be a national or internal selection, or even the popular hybrid of an internal selection of an artist and the public choosing the song itself (see: 2013). Yet one can guess that Poland’s success with an internal selection in 2014, after such a dismal losing streak, will inspire other countries with abysmal histories at ESC to take the same route.

Armenia can train Bulgaria in the winning of Eurovision. No doubts that Armenians are the one of creators of musical instruments in the world.

@Alex – Yes, Turkey has done extremely well with internal selection of song and artist. So has Armenia (both of their both results had internally selected artist and song). So, I think it’s more cost efficient and better method of selection.

Bulgaria have always entered brilliant songs that stand out from the pack. Na Inat is indeed one of the most underrated ESC songs. I hope they keep up their standard & look forward to hearing them in 2015.

Yeay! LOVE Bulgaria’s participation! From Miro “I want to be George Michael when I grow up” and his angels in 2010, through Poli Genova’s massively overlooked “Na Inat” in 2011 and Sofia’s PUMPING solo effort with nothing but a pair of thigh-boots to support her in 2012… and the recurring drum-bashing insanity of Elitsa and Stoyan, THIS IS WHAT EUROVISION IS ALL ABOUT! It’s SO COOL that they always sing in their own language, and skirt on the edge of Eastern-European madness while embracing the overblown westernised production values that we’ve come to know and love at ESC … welcome… Read more »

Each year Bulgaria gets cheated out of the final. 2012 was Great and sooo much better than Norway (But at least Norway stopped the UK from coming last) and 2013 was great I was so happy when Samo Championi replaced the other entry. Bulgaria deserves better.

Bulgaria’s usually pretty good at sounding different, actually. Elitsa and Stoyan are easily the best example, but let’s not forget the extremely eclectic though poorly sung live “DJ, Take Me Away” in 2008 (yes, dance music can sound different!!!), the seemingly Pink-inspired “Na inat” in 2011 and the bizarre “Illusion” of Krassimir Avramov. Even the chorus of Love Unlimited is arguably something rather unusual, though some probably argued it was a cheap idea. I also agree that Bulgaria’s underrated in Eurovision. They got totally shafted by the jury in 2012 and 2013 – hopefully their return brings them some good… Read more »

If they bother to bring something worth listening to and musically significant, then fine … bringing more dance electronic crap has never done them nothing good … So it’s better they step up their game … Be and sound different!

Bulgaria is one of the two most underrated countries in Eurovision (the other being Slovenia) so I’m definitely excited to have Bulgaria back. I’ve liked all their songs but I’ve loved the songs they’ve sent since 2011 (‘Na inat’ could be the most underrated song in ESC of all time, I thought that would’ve gotten Top 10 at least). Can’t wait to see what they send, very excited. Just please keep it in Bulgarian, such a beautiful language.

Being happy to have them back doesn’t help. We also have to vote for them 🙂
And pray that the members of the jury won’t place them 25th
