2015 is going to be a great year, y’all! According to sources close to BNT, Bulgaria is very likely to confirm a return to Eurovision 2015. This revelation comes after Bulgaria confirmed that it will participate in this year’s installment of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Conchita’s victory is making the returns unstoppable!
Even though Bulgaria has only qualified once (2007), it has come close several times (2008, 2011, 2012, and 2013). Bulgaria withdrew after the 2013 citing financial reasons, and partly because of disappointment with Stoyan’s and Elitsa’s result, much to the chagrin of Bulgarian musicians. Random: We still love this photo of Elitsa who took crazy to a whole new level on the red carpet.
At the moment there seems to be no decision about whether there will be a national or internal selection, or even the popular hybrid of an internal selection of an artist and the public choosing the song itself (see: 2013). Yet one can guess that Poland’s success with an internal selection in 2014, after such a dismal losing streak, will inspire other countries with abysmal histories at ESC to take the same route.
