Looks like Malta is preparing its JESC contestant Federica Falzon to make history and win Junior Eurovision for Malta for a second time in a row as Federica (together with Gaia Cauchi) gave a concert last week with some other familiar faces and guests from Italy.

Following a guest appearance with Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja at his concert last month, Federica has taken centre stage as the star of her own concert, as part of the Ghaxaq Music Festival.

Organised in close collaboration with La Voix Academy, the concert featured the newly-formed La Voix Orchestra, which accompanied the singers for an hour and a half of live music. Federica sang duets with Marco Vito (Coach on The Voice of Italy), Vincenzo Carni (with whom she won ‘Ti Lascio una Canzone’) and Ludwig Galea (Eurovision 2004). Gaia Cauchi, Davinia (Malta Eurovision Finalist) and Shauna Vassallo also performed.

Gillian Matt and FedericaGillian Attard — vocal coach to both Federica and Gaia Cauchi — has told wiwibloggs that Federica is busy spending the hot summer days preparing for JESC, along with Matt ‘Muxu’ Mercieca (pictured below) and composer Elton Zarb. Gillian sends her thanks to all the readers of wiwibloggs.com and the Maltese public for their constant support.

What do y’all think of these videos? Do you think Malta is in it to win it (again) on home turf? We have our opinion about it, but we want to hear yours! (You can also view Gaia belt out her 2013 winning song live at the same concert by clicking here)

Deven, the Pallati i Kongreseve (the only arena in Albania) is far too small to host Junior Eurovision. It can just about manage Festivali i Këngës (Albanian NF). A JESC stage would probably bring the seats down to like 1,500

Apart from winning or loosing this contest I see it as a step forward in Federica’s career. She known from where she started, knows where she is today and I know she is looking forward for her future that awaits her. Having said all this she has a good solid management to back her up. We do not know what song she has yet nor the performance that is being laid out for her. One must wait and see. But I know that ‘THE GIRL WITH THE GOLDEN VOICE’ will shine.

Bledar, The rule in JESC is not as strict as the real ESC. So yes, maybe. Or Albania could host it in the 2,000 seat arena.

@Deven and @Darren; What would happen if say Albania were to return and win? Our largest arena in Tirana has 2,000 seats. Would it go to whoever came 2nd?

I Mirepritur Bledar

Darren is right. If Malta win again (which is a great possibility), we will 99 be in either Marsa’s shipyard or the Malta fairs and Convention Centre in Valetta.

@Bledar
The JESC rules were changed in 2012. The winning country now has to host, so yes, if Malta win again, the JESC 2015 will more than likely be back in Marsa.

@Deven also add Ukraine to the list of countries who won’t necessarily host if they win, mainly due to them recently hosting it as the war isn’t affecting Kyiv (Kiev)

@Deven

It won’t necessarily be in the winning country. It only has been in the winning country in 2011 (Armenia), 2013 (Ukraine), and 2014 (Malta). For example, I highly doubt that Moldova, San Marino or Montenegro will host it if they win. But still yes Deven I think Malta is currently the favourite to win in my books

Its between Malta, Italy and Portugal I think for JESC! 😛
Federicia Falzon is a talented young girl and I strongly believe that she could win for Malta. JESC could have its first ever consecutive win.
Federicia is an artist I would love to see enter the normal ESC in a few years when she gets a bit older.

Re: The JESC Contest I do believe that Federica has the voice, ability and maturity to win the JESC Contest. However apart from preparing her to win, she must also understand that she could also lose. Song contests are won according to the opinion of the Judges and not necessarily on the ability of the contestants. Now if Federica is not prepared for the eventually that she could lose, she would be mentally demolished. I have spent many years coaching athletes. The best athletes enter for a race convinced that they would win easily – when lose they spend days… Read more »
