Last night we were sad to report that Julia Volkova, part of faux lesbian Russian pop group t.A.T.u., had made some pretty disparaging remarks about gay people, saying she wouldn’t accept a gay son. Well today bandmate Lena Katina has spoken out on her Facebook page, making it clear that she loves love in all its forms.
Miss Katina clearly does not want her LGBT fans to think that she’s a hater too, and we sincerely appreciate her words. So much so that we’re going to pre-order Lena’s debut album “This Is Who I Am”, which drops on November 18.
After Lena’s message, we know a little bit about who she is: someone who looks past labels and embraces love. We’ll take her t.A. but will kindly leave Julia’s T.u. on the floor.
Yupeee. I will do whatever I can to buy Lena’s new album, even living in Brazil.
About Yulia: a poor sad whore.
Won’t be promoting anything Julia Volkova has to do with, but more than happy to help Lena Katina.
This hatred for anyone who is not ‘straight’ (whatever that means) simply has to stop.
This is really cool. Thanks, Lena, for the words of love!
I mean, Iceland 11th place televote.
This is an example of how the Russian people should not be conflated with the Russian government, in contrast to what some commenters did in the other Tatu article. (In general, the people of a country should never be conflated with their government, but it’s done all the time.)
Let’s not forget that Austria got 5 points and Iceland got 1 point from Russia this year. (Austria 3rd place televote, Iceland 11 points televote.) That’s no coincidence…
You go girl!
yes lena!
