On September 20, the Eurasian Music Awards 2014 took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Swedish songstress and Eurovision 2012 queen Loreen headlined the EMAs and performed some of her greatest hits, including her song ‘Dumpster’.

Ani Lorak, the “Shady Lady” who sang for Ukraine in 2008, also headlined, winning the award for “Best Eurasian Artist”.

Before the show, commentators compared famous Kazakh singer Nurlan Abdullin to Conchita Wurst. We don’t really see it (besides the beard, two eyes and a good voice). Anyway, you can compare for yourself below!

what happened to Loreen? No new music, no performances in Europe, nothing at all. Instead of that, she performs in some Kazakh awards show! What a let-down. I thought her career would take off…

Almaty is the biggest city of Kazakhstan, but not the capital. The capital is Astana.
