Hello, Europe! We at wiwibloggs have tallied the votes, made sure that there was no voter intimidation, and we can now reveal the winner of our first Euro-Photoshop Contest.
As you’ll recall, we asked our readers to edit this iconic LOVE image of Pollapönk, Iceland’s Eurovision 2014 contestants.
We received dozens of submissions and narrowed it down to our favourite five. (You can see all of them here). You guys then cast a total of 339 votes. We’re pleased to announce that the winner is….Edward from Wales with his “Specsavers” entry.
Edward cleverly plays on the lyrics to “No prejudice,” Pollapönk’s song about tolerance. In an e-mail to wiwibloggs, Edward explained his design this way:
Specsavers are a well-known optician in Northern Europe, and has been using the “Should’ve gone to Specsavers” tagline for some years, to the extent that it has become a common colloquialism in British English. Even if this was not known to you, I hope you find my edit amusing.
We do! And so did our readers. Congratulations, Edward! Your autographed CD of Firelight’s “Coming Home” will be with you shortly.
