After several long months of casting, semi-finals, and the creation of several supercute music videos, the Junior Songfestival has finally come to an end. The triumphant adolescent who will fly the tricolor in Marsa is long-time fan favorite Julia with her song “Around”! The 15-year old superstar earned top marks from the kids jury (K), the adult jury (A) and televoters (T), making her the undisputed Queen of the Dutch Junior Eurovision selection.

Junior Songfestival Results

Julia – Around – 12 (K), 12 (A), 12 (T) – 36

Chelsea – Waarom – 10 (K), 10 (A), 10 (T) – 30

Suze – Holiday – 8 (K), 9 (A), 9 (T) – 26

Sebastiaan – 2gether We Are One – 9 (K), 8 (A), 8(T) – 25

Anne & Anique – Dromen – 7 (K), 7 (A), 7 (T) – 21

Julia’s Journey To Victory

She first wowed us with her jazzy voice back in June, when she earned a spot in the semi-finals. Over the summer, however, her song went through major metamorphosis and emerged as a fun, upbeat club number.

With this incarnation of “Around”, she won both our poll and her semi-final in a landslide (scoring perfect scores with both juries and the televote last week).

Are you excited to see Julia go up against other talented competitiors, such as Cyprus’ Sophie Patsalides and her song “I pio omorfi mera“? Will you be rooting for a Dutch victory this November? Let us know in the comments!

I think it sounds very much like Otto Knows’ “Million Voices” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8jhXmfdRFY

Klockzu

There are only 6 songs revealed yet,
Maybe more than 10 to come and there is enough place for more childish kind of songs.
– Montenegro had a preview of their song, which sounded kind of kidlike.
– Georgia always sends childish popsongs so with lizi pop that will probably be the case too.
– Bulgarias song is called “planet of the children”. So that sounds obvious.

no reason to panic 😉

She is my favourite for now. But I hope there will be better songs, because this one sounds cheap.

It’s a song that has some great parts, but it becomes a bit boring after the 2 minute mark with the catchy yet really repetitive ”eeeeee oooooo round and around and around”. ”Waarom” was the diamond in the Netherlands’ selection. Whatever, my top 6 so far:
1. Belarus- Sokol: 9/10
2. Cyprus- I Pio Omorfi Mera: 9/10
3. The Netherlands- Around: 8/10
4. Sweden- Du Ar Inte Ensam: 8/10 (really is like the Dutch song, currently I’ll place the Dutch one higher because of a catchier chorus)
5. Armenia- People Of The Sun: 6/10
6. Ukraine- Priyde Vesna: 6/10

I literally think the JESC songs are much better than the ESC songs from now xD.

If this goes on like this, good night. Again my favourite earned 2nd place :-(. Same modern shit as the song from Belarus. They deserve the last place, but I know this won’t happen. Good (childish) JESC years good bye :-(.
