Italy has confirmed its participation for Eurovision 2015 in Vienna.

The winner of the Sanremo Song Festival 2015 will represent Italy in Austria. The festival has been used frequently as Italy’s national selection.

In the event that the winner doesn’t want to participate at Eurovision (who wouldn’t?!) the organisers of the festival will select the participant in stead.

There had been strong speculation that Italy might withdraw after a disappointing result in Copenhagen for Emma Marrone. The popstar finished in 21st place with 33 points.

Not only is that the worst result since Italy returned but its the worst result for Rome EVER. At least Emma avoided the nil points handed to Domenico Modugno way back in 1966.

We can’t contain our excitement about Emma being back. ‘La Mia Città’ was crazy beautiful and we were obsessed with the backdrop for the song. She was robbed!

It’s even more stupid for a country like Italy which has been pretty successful since they returned and this year was only the exception. But anyway! I’m glad it was just a rumour and that fortunately proved to… Read more »
