Jedward turned 23 yesterday. Today we’d like to emphasize the 3. That’s because the rumour mill keeps on spinning, suggesting that John and Edward are ready to sing for Ireland for a third time at Eurovision.

The rumours are built on some semi-solid foundations. Back in May the twins told wiwiblogger Deban that they love their Eurovision fans and would love to sing again at the contest. And in July wiwiblogger Anthony reported on comments that foreign countries have approached them to sing. Now goss.ie claims that the once-seen-never-forgotten former X Factor contestants are currently hunting for the perfect song.

But is Europe ready for Jedward The Third? If so, should they come alone or should they collaborate with other former X Factor contestants? Let’s review.

Jedward at Eurovision

In 2011 they made their first attempt with “Lipstick”, which had the bookies going gaga. At various points in the run-up to the contest they had Ireland down as the favourites to win it all. It finished an impressive 8th…

The following year they returned with “Waterline”, written by noted songwriter Sharon Vaughn. It had fantastic energy, but the song finished a very disappointing 19th…

And before…

Jedward’s journey from being perceived as two untalented, annoying, immature boys to global superstars occupying Planet Jedward has been a major rollercoaster ride. At the height of their X Factor days viewers screamed emotional abuse, and it wasn’t always pretty.

But following this they still pulled a couple of hits! They have cleverly built up their own brand and it’s quite obvious their voices have improved substantially. They have started producing quality songs with quality videos such as “Luminous” and “Free Spirit”…

Can they actually sing? That’s the ultimate question which is ultimately answered in their cover of Coldplay’s “Sky Full Of Stars”…

Jedward are fun, have Eurovision running through their veins and Vienna will be a much sadder place without them!

If they do make it back should they come alone or should they collaborate with their female equivalents? If ever there was a female Jedward then Blonde Electra from X Factor UK 2014 are it. It could prove to be a marriage made in Eurovision-heaven or the start of Eurovision-agedden. But either way it would be amazing to watch!

Why should we want Jedward? Are they still a group? Did they have any record company today?

In fairness, Jedward have had two chances already. There are loads of talented artists in Ireland. If they enter the Irish eurosong final, they are likely to win because of their fan base which is totally unfair on the other participants. Time to stand aside lads and give somebody else an opportunity!

I don’t know how I feel about Jedward returning to Esc!
On one hand they are extremely popular, and with the right song ( lipstick, luminous) instead of the below decent waterline, then they could do very well BUT on the other hand, could a third attempt show how desperate Ireland is that we wheel them out when other singers can’t get us the results we want? Or that they are the only singers in Ireland?

No. Didn’t care for them the first time, nor the second time. Their has to be more talented people out there that can represent Ireland.

Srebrenko, when you say ”What is happening with Ireland?”, what do you mean? Is it good or bad?

I hope for it! They have become so much better in singing! Next to that, they are always lovely to their fans, dare to make there own songs and try to make people smile. Eurovision would be less cool without them. 🙂
